Nintendo Gaming / Re: Forum Snap Poll: How Sold Are You on the Switch?

You lot are crazy.

It's definitely a more powerful console than Wii U...maybe not near PS4 power, but it's significantly more than Wii U. Also, it's the FUCKING LAUNCH. You don't need or want eleventy-billion games during this time. ****, I'm getting Zelda, Bomberman, and Setsuna at launch...and that's way more than enough to keep me content until Mario Kart arrives in late April.

Also, it has the one feature I have been clamouring for, for almost a decade now — portability in a home console. I, literally, can bring my console with me on the go now. That's incredible.

Yes, some of the prices on accessories are a bit high. But I have two controllers ready to go for Bomberman with my boyfriend right out of the fucking box. That's exciting. I can't wait. Yes, I do want a Pro controller...but for now, it can wait until later.

I'm so ready for Switch, and I believe it's going to be a wonderful success for Nintendo once it catches on this holiday season later in the year.

Sold! Breath of the Wild, Super Bomberman R, and I Am Setsuna on day one for me. :)

NX?

What's that? A new console? I'm betting Nintendo are gonna jump into the candy making industry. Sign me up.

Sounds like the Sounders very own version of Fergie Time.

As always: Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn. After acquiring full Sol tome armour from Hunts, Duty EX, Primal HMs (basically anything that grants Soldiery tomestones), I started seriously pushing to complete Beastmen quests. And as of two days ago, I finally completed them after starting them earlier in the summer. There's five sets of beastmen tribes currently in Eorzea on the lower continents - Ixali, Kobolds, Sahagin, Amal'jaa, and Sylphs. And there's a bit of a surprise once you get all five to rank 8 (Allied standing.) Incredibly rewarding quest line and added items. And much respect for Yoshida and crew for pushing that surprise at the end of it all, as well. That kind of stuff is desperately needed in the gaming industry.

Revisiting: Dungeon Defenders. My brother convinced me to rejoin him on his crusade to levelling a character to lvl100, and I had completely forgotten how much of a total romp this game can be. It's crazy fun. I'm not so much a tower defence kind of gamer, but I make an exception for this game. It looks and feels like a Nintendo game, and that's probably why I adore it so much. Anyway, to keep it brief, my brother and I have been trying to level quickly and gain Mythical armour - the next step in armour once you hit lvl75. I've got three of four pieces now. :)

Brand new: Super Smash Bros. 4 (3DS). First thing's first - I'm a competitive player of Smash. I love it, and I don't know why. It's a thrill. One-on-one, no items (except Smash Ball), and any stage goes. That's my motto. I've made a finalised tier list now concerning my personal choices amongst grouping fighters in a 'Best/Great/Good/So-So/Awful' category, and so far, my personal tiers are as follows:

Best - Zero Suit Samus, Diddy Kong, Koopalings
Great - Bowser, Pac-Man, Link, Pit, Palutena, Robin, Fox, Pikachu, Wii Fit Trainer, Mii (Brawler), Falco, Wario
Good - Villager, Greninja, Captain Falcon, Mario, Sheik, Ike, Kirby, Meta Knight, Olimar, Mega Man, Jigglypuff, Dr. Mario, Duck Hunt, Mr. Game & Watch, Mii (Gunner)
So-So - Luigi, Rosalina, Donkey Kong, Toon Link, Marth, King Dedede, Little Mac, Charizard, Lucario, Shulk, Dark Pit, Ganondorf, Lucina, Mii (Swordmaster)
Awful - Peach, Yoshi*, Zelda, Samus, Sonic, Ness, R.O.B.

*Scott Thompson (oksoda) is a BEAST with Yoshi. I do not understand this. It's incomprehensible. Really.

And if you'd like to come Smash my head into the stratosphere with me as any of my three 'Bests,' then by all means, please come do it. I welcome all challengers. (I'm terrible, really.)[/b]

I miss the convex/concave buttons of the SuperNES. That really stood out for me, and made it quite easy to distinguish button placement.

I think a lot of you guys are confusing fantastic art direction for amazing graphics. There really isn't anything special about Wind Waker HD. It has fantastic art direction, which is why it can look good even today. Okami and Beyond Good & Evil are similar games. But its completely ridiculous to compare a Gamecube game to a current gen console.
And you're confusing amazing graphics with photo-realistic art design. The descriptor, amazing, is just that - an opinion. It's just as if saying Wind Waker has fantastic art direction, too.

And yes, there are games on GameCube when played on the appropriate television set (a 480i/p standard CRT) that look just as great as PS4/Xbox One/Wii U games. Rogue Leader, Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4, Soul Calibur II, Star Fox Adventures (ridiculous fur effects), Pikmin, F-Zero GX, and even Beyond Good & Evil.

Art style or photo-realism..or not, appropriate to its original resolution and viewed on its respective display, yes, these GC games look just as good as the games' and their respective screenshots you posted (look, I can opinion, too!)

Whats the big Holiday title for PS4/1? There may not be one definitive title just a lot of solid support. Halo, GTA are just remakes, albeit very fine titles in that. Lord of the fallen and Middle Earth could be very solid titles indeed but they don't completely differ (on the surface) from Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2. Without going tit for tat, it appears this could be a most interesting choice for the holiday gamer.

Major titles on PS4/Xbox One this Fall (no comment on quality, just sales or hype potential) that will not be on Wii U:

*Also not counting re-releases like Sleepy Dogs and [Kirby's Epic Yarn HD-er] (i.e. GTA)*

Destiny
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Forza Horizon 2
Alien Isolation
Project Spark
Driveclub
NBA2K15
The Evil Within
Sunset Overdrive
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Assassin's Creed Unity
The Crew
Dragon Age Inquisition
Far Cry 4
LittleBigPlanet 3
Ori and the Blind Forest (OK, not a big system-seller, but I wanted to spotlight that game because it looks amazing)

By comparison, let's look at the Wii U's Fall Lineup that's not available on the other consoles:

Hyrule Warriors
Bayonetta 2
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyre
Smash Bros. U (maybe. Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed it yet, despite the leaks)
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (maybe. Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed it yet, and it's been delayed to 2015 everywhere else)

Pathetic.
Opinion!

Of all of the games not coming to Wii U in that list, Sunset Overdrive looks to be the only semi-interesting title to me, but it's not enough to push me over the edge to buy a Xbox One.

But on the Wii U list, Hyrule Warriors, Bayo 2, Smash, and Captain Toad will give me LOADS of fun and fill my gaming tastes just fine.

Just because YOU don't think it's great, doesn't mean it's that way for the majority of people.

Oh my. That poor sap really did shout 'PEGGLE 2!' and proceed to fist pump into axe chop the ground? Ugh.

I think it's their characters that pull me in. I've owned various Sony consoles through my lifetime, and played many Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast games as a kid, but Nintendo's characters are the only ones that truly appeal to me.

Sony, Microsoft, or any other third party that exists don't have characters anywhere near as cool as Fox McCloud...or Captain Falcon. They can try (and they definitely do try), but they always fail at grasping my attention. I mean, c'mon.. Pit! An angel boy who lost his wings, and fights with a bow and arrow that transforms into dual daggers! How awesome is that? :D

Or Jill... a pink-haired pixie rabbit-like humanoid that pilots a drill - and uses it to decimate her enemies! Sony, Microsoft, and the rest of the lot aren't anywhere near that imaginative. That's why I love Nintendo.

And that's why I keep coming back.

I made a list earlier in the year concerning Pokkén Tournament's roster. 29 Fighting types, if you just stick with final evo forms - which would be a great selection for a Tekken-based roster.

Though, we've already been given confirmation of non-fighting types being included.

Wow as in...I loved it. I feel like it's setting things up quite well for season three now. Laurel possibly taking up the mantle of Black Canary, Thea getting recruited by her real father into the League of Assassins (more than likely) to become...Cheshire? Roy turning good and becoming Arsenal. I'm psyched. I thought everything was brought together incredible well.

I imported a package of Jammie Dodgers. Hmm... not too sure what I think. I like the texture of the shortbread, but the jam is an interesting taste, for sure. Not sure if I like it or not.

I do, however, love Jelly Babies. So good.

It's fairly common knowledge.

Blast. Could have made for a very intriguing playable character...with a sword. Adding in Takamaru, Smash should have been renamed Super Sword Bros. for Wii U/3DS. Seriously, so many swords.

But yeah, would have loved Takamaru as playable. Shame on you, Sakurai.
