How long until somebody builds Rainbow Road? Or heaven forbid, Yoshi Valley?

The next Mario Kart title will use your living space as the track.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit was revealed in today's Nintendo Direct Mini for launch on October 16 at a MSRP of US$99.99. It utilizes two specially designed go-karts (Mario or Luigi themed) with mixed reality cameras mounted above the brother and four gate markers to design a course, which is controlled by the Switch game. The karts will move through the course, including stopping or responding when items are used.

The game itself will feature four player local multiplayer, as well as optional customization items for the karts. The Mario and Luigi karts are sold in separate packages.

Velan Studios, a studio founded by former Vicarious Visions (Skylanders) developers, are involved in the game's development.

The more I think about this, the more money I'm mentally spending. Good grief.

This was by far the best part of the direct for... $99.99... well, Mario All-Stars for free is cool.

I would absolutely love this, but I completely lack the floor space.

Now, my parents' house on the other hand. . .

My 6YO flipped his lid for this one. He instantly got the concept and wants it so bad.

My poor wallet.

This is just a cool invention for even just free driving...let alone being able to play a cool game with it.  But at $99.99 I can really afford it...and I won't really get too much play out of it being an adult.

This looks very cool. I'll be a father next year so wondering if I should grab this and some Labo on discount for when my kid gets older. Won't spend $100 on it now, as I'd rather buy myself the Lego NES, but its cool to see this tech coming out after years of various VR/AR concepts.

I wonder how big the courses can be.  I can see some INSANE tracks being made by people.

I'm 100% going to need to figure out how to play this outside, or wait until they let us get back in the office for work... My house is too small T-T.

I'm thinking if Corona ever isn't a thing, it could be fun to organize some kind of after-hours retailtainment event at work.  Or talking the owners of a deserted mall into letting us have some fun.
