So... Paramount isn't allowing theatrical showings of Team America...

I was just coming in here to post that....

It's time to turn in those stars and stripes.... all the red has run down onto the floor.

I wonder how much trouble Paramount would go through to go after folks projecting large public (free) performances of Team America screenings in public areas...

Yes. The FBI has conluded that there was enough evidence to point this directly at N. Korea
http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/update-on-sony-investigation

and Obama called Sony a Pussy on live television for pulling the movie. At least our president's colors haven't run... but technically, Sony is a Japanese company, and SPE is a subsidiary based in America, but as long as the are here, they should know we don't give in to the demand of terrorist. This is AMERICA dammit.

Hopefully Obama give Presidential Executive Order to release the movie on New Years Day.
just to let them know that we ain't afraid of no one, especially not N. Korea and their empty threats.

it appears that the Hackers have decided to back off Sony for now...

Quote
The hackers who attacked Sony Pictures have called off the release of further stolen data because of the studio's decision not to release The Interview, according to CNN. CNN reports that top Sony executives received an email from the hacking group last night with a message saying that it would leave them alone for now. "It's very wise that you have made a decision cancel the release of The Interview. It will be very useful for you," CNN reports the message as reading. The email concludes, "We will assure the security of your data unless you make additional trouble."

That's both good and bad news for Sony. It should be relieved that it has stopped the publication of damaging stolen data — such as executives' emails — for now, though the fact that it's still out there presents an ongoing problem.

but they promise to hold the blackmail over them should they cause any more problems....

Quote
"Now we want you never let the movie released, distributed or leaked in any form of, for instance, DVD or piracy."

"And we want everything related to the movie, including its trailers, as well as its full version down from any website hosting them immediately."

It warns the studio executives that "we still have your private and sensitive data" and claims that they will "ensure the security of your data unless you make additional trouble."

and this is why we don't negotiate w/ terrorist Sony.

edit: And George Clooney was apparently the one man trying to stand up against all this... now calls Hollywood as a whole a bunch of pussies.

I guess its confirmed now that its North Korea.  At that point it is a Cyber Attack involving American Citizen from a Foreign Power.  At least on the Cyber front we really don't have much of a choice.

In other news that article I wrote about Sony was read by one of the reporters/anchors at my station and she liked it. I won't know details till Monday but there is a good chance they might run it. There is sort of a deadline in order for it to remain relevant but I still have time.

its more relevant now than it was last week, but it would have been bigger for you had they first reported on it last week instead of next week. As you could be writing the follow up story to it now, instead of the initial report. It would show an eye for spotting that big story before it breaks.

You would think, but in order to put a local spin on it I had to tie it into Christmas shopping and tech gadgets, its more relevant as a pre-Christmas shopping story but a few minor tweaks and I can turn it into a post-Christmas shopping story. I live in the mid-west and our local news has to have a very local slant the only ebola stuff we reported on was that one doctor in Nebraska and the patient in Kansas, everything else was not news worthy to our market. Our local slant on the cuba thing was interviewing a cigar smoker who used to be mayor.

But I am still hopeful they will run it, she told me that she wants to work with me to get it on air so if that does happen I will share the link because all our stories do get posted to our website.

More Spider-man details leaked
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=112646

http://moviepilot.com/posts/2014/12/20/marvel-and-sony-finally-have-a-deal-2530167?lt_source=external,manual,manual

It's sounds like a deal had almost been reached with co-production, script, costume and actor approvals, a 3pic minimum deal, and the biggest reason why Marvel would even consider agreeing to this, is it changes the rights conversion from 1 movie every 7 years, to one movie appearance every 3.5yrs.

Looks like Sony has decided that it will release the movie afterall, it's just not 100% sure how yet.

http://nypost.com/2014/12/21/sony-plans-to-release-the-interview-on-crackle-for-free/
Looks like it might get a free showing on Crackle. The ad supported movie streaming service owned by Sony.

Let's just hope the Hackers don't shut down Crackle when time to premiere happens. Although that would be so damn hilarious.... probably even funnier than the actual movie.

You know, I was thinking about this when Sony came out and pushed all the blame onto theaters, stating that they'd be interested in releasing the movie via a digital steaming service...

There's no way.

Your streaming services live and die on their ability to have a functioning and reliable connection to the internet.  If they ticked off the wrong group - blammo.  Could you imagine if they lost service for a day?  A week?  How long was the PlayStation Network down again?  Ouch.

That's why they should take up (Torrent Locker?) Bit Torrent's offer to distribute.

Not their service, it's a pay structure, and it will end up on the torrent services withing hours or days of being released in any format anyway for free, so they might as well make a little money back on it first. NK can't shut down the whole internet, and finding a way to shut down Bit Torrent would be an amazing feat.

Well, just this rumor alone will help us get that "Christmas gift" the hackers promised us.  But it also means that the hackers will release more damning stuff against Sony if they have anything.  Let's see what happens next.

I think this whole thing was an elaborate scheme to promote Crackle. Sony paid off North Korea to hack their own servers just to set it up.
