Fred Meyer got rid of their electronics department

eCommerce strikes again.  :(

Between this and the Hastings chain closing last year, I'm feeling that I am going to have to destroy the entire Internet. Just giving everyone fair warning.

I'm running out of places to buy physical movies on DVDs or BluRays. Barnes and Nobles actually has the best selection in town.

I wonder if it is only in certain markets, I'll check my local stores to be sure. Maybe I can get some nice discounted goods.

Really, I don't see Fred Meyer lasting in the current Supermarket/Box Store landscape. There are cheaper and better places for all of their departments. Albertsons hit some tough times in our region and cloed a bunch of stores.

Winco for groceries, Lowes/Home Depot for yard & garden, Ikea for furniture, GameStop/Frys/Electronic stores for games/movies/technology. And Walmart and Amazon tend to have better prices on everything. The middle stores are really getting pushed to "convenience store/Mom & Pop" status in our current environment.

I was just at the Fred Meyer in Twin Falls, Idaho, they still have an electronics section. Just as I remembered it was the best in town. Shopko surprised me in their was a joke. They took out the counter/registers and the video games department was consolidated into just a single aisle they took out the glass containers.

K-Mart, my god that was depressing. Their electronics department looked like that of a Dollar General. It made me sick. I wanted to puke. One of my first jobs ever was in that very K-Mart electronics department.

Sadly our local Sears is an empty space now.

I haven't had any reason to venture into Best Buy so I have no idea what that looks like.

Most depressing of all, the building our local Hastings was in is now a Goodwill.
