You've already passed me up Stratos and I've been here a lot longer!
When it comes to posts, I'd say Nintendo's philosophy of quality over quantity is a good one to follow.

Sheesh, Insanolord as almost a year's worth of online time!
I don't think you could just leave the website up because I believe it stops counting after 15 minutes (or less) of inactivity. You'd have to rig up some way to keep refreshing the page if you wanted to rack up time online without actually being here.

I think I just discovered a problem with this site:
Quote
Male to Female Ratio:    10.6:1
Too many men! We need more female members around here to brighten things up and have tea parties!

Golden Phoenix or one of the other females here need to slap you for that.  :P  ;)
Actually, if we have a little over 10,000 members then there is (or has been) close to 1,000 women somewhere on these boards.

And in response to your quality over quantity statement...You can be the Gamecube and I'll be the Wii. I have better 3rd Party support :P

Why will I be slapped for that? What'd I say that isn't true?
How many of those 10,000 members actually post? Seems like there are thousands of people who came here and were like "Awesome site! I'll join up! That was fun! But now I'm board, time for GameFAQs!"
Those thousand women were probably scared off because there are OVER 9000 men here!

No GameCube for me honey, I'm the Nintendo 64! My small library of games -- er, posts? Topics? -- shall revolutionize... posting... by bringing back established... posts... in new dimensions!

I was more referring to the tea party stereotype and it was meant to be a joke. That's why I made smileys. Plus I have some female friends that would slug me if I made stereotypical references about women. So I've been trained to expect some slugging to occur when those references are made.

Fair enough, you can be the N64 with Mario 64 and Ocarina...wait, that means I get Chicken Shoot...I revolutionize...posts...with gimmicky posting tricks...and a number of posts that immerse the player, er, reader, with unique...posting techniques.

Is it still stereotypical if I actually enjoy tea parties?
It's not like I said pillow fights and sleepovers... I've grown out of those.  :)

If you're following the example of Wii then make sure you stick with only its positive points. Don't go flooding the market -- er, forum -- with shovelware... shovelposts... which don't utilize your... writing style? Kind of like we're doing now...

Like I said, I had some friends that responded to anything that seemed stereotypical (in a joking way, so I think in the same joking way about it).
I like tea parties too, I'm actually a huge tea person. I invited some people over for a tea party and card games my first semester of college and only one girl showed up. I was sure she thought I was a creep who claimed they invited a number of people and only invited her. I was saved when my friend from the room next door came over later, I had forgotten that he had work. So It didn't look as bad since I had invited him earlier as well.

Does that mean we should stop?... But it's really fun. Maybe I should make a new thread since this is the second time you and I have derailed the 'I'm New!' thread. Oops

Well I don't think I have to worry about being slapped anyways because I don't believe anyone but you has been reading my posts in this topic.  :)

I agree it's fun, but... I think the forum appreciates topicality, things like this might be annoying to others. It is unfortunate though because I have real trouble staying on topic. We have been derailing quite a few threads lately... perhaps one of us should create a topic in the Funhouse in which whenever we stray from a topic, we pick up the conversation there so as not to derail the original topic? It might work... maybe...?  :-\

Well, that depends.
Did everyone have tea?
When you were seated, was your group referred to as a party?
If you answer "yes" to both questions, then I'd say that qualifies as a tea party.

I wonder if we could have some sort of virtual tea party here. We could all brew up some tea for ourselves and drink it whilst in front of our computers and gossip about our neighbors.

Can I have Apricot Ale instead? I'm drinking one right now.
If not should I go brew some black or green tea? I also have white tea and all sorts of herbal teas. If you like Chai I have black chai, green chai, white chai, double chai...oregon chai. I have a really nice green tea with strawberry pieces in it. I get that loose leaf here in town. I'd go make some of that now but I lost my tea ball.

I'm too tired to even pretend to know what all of those are...
I don't want to have this tea party now, it's 3AM and that caffeine would keep me up all night. I'm halfway there anyway... *sigh*

You an graveyard worker or an insomniac? I was a grave worker and now that I'm not anymore I am an insomniac  :P
I hope you don't work in the morning.
Most herbal teas have no caffeine. Drink chamomile tea, it helps you sleep.

PS-Don't we have a separate thread for these off-shoots?

There have been about three new posters that I've seen sign up since Miss Helena signed up to scam us Via PMs.
None have posted here yet so they may just be slowly testing the waters before jumping in fully. I think I signed up and didn't post for a day or two afterward.

Hi new members! Don't be afraid of us. We don't bite, much... ;)
Come say hi sometime.

Speaking of new posters, I haven't seen rbtr posting much recently.

I can take it. She does it all the time to me, but just for fun (I like to think )

Plus I actually didn't take it that way until you mentioned that. If you look at my sign up date it was the day after Bill made his epic farewell speech. I took it to be referring to the tumultuous times the forums were going through then. I was born out of trials and tribulations.

Or I could be Bill reincarnate  ;)
^^
But I couldn't claim that unless I signed up three days after he left. I think my first post was three days after though.

Hah, if every person who signed up had posted in this thread, it would have over 11,000 posts. I don't know why someone would bother to create an account and ne'er return, but I wouldn't expect very many new members to come here and introduce themselves.

New posters have a very good reason to fear me. I like to hug people when they least expect it.

That's not a bad thing. I'm a very huggy person myself.

And some people may just be on the fence about joining our group and signing up may just be one step towards this. Give them time. I'm sure there is a large number of poeple who listen to the podcast who never come to the site but just get the iTunes feed. I think every podcast has the challenge of converting remote listeners into site traffic and active members of their community. RetroActive is a great way to channel this because it encourages listeners to hop on the boards and participate in the discussion.

I notice that your profile lists you as Kairon's younger brother. That's cool. I've been thinking about getting my little sister to hop on the forums as well but I think she's a but too young still (she's 10).
