The Nintendo Digital event kicked off with first details for Star Fox Zero.

The game uses the GamePad to aim in smaller areas and the gyro for camera views, while showing third-person view of the craft on the TV. The game features flying Landmasters, transformable mobile Arwing walkers, and a gyro-copter for exploration based missions.

In a developer interview, Mr Miyamoto explained that Star Fox's flying through arches was inspired by Japanese temples and they want to encourage gamers to feel like they are flying. The vehicles, including a new gyrocopter, can transform into different vehicles and the levels can be explored with different vehicles each time.

Star Fox Zero will release Holiday 2015.

I was disappointed in what they've shown so far, and I'm not talking about the graphics.

I thought the gameplay looked exactly like a Star Fox game should.

So do we have confirmation that this game's gyro-only? Because last year Nintendo was saying you'd have the option to select working controls.

Gyro in Splatoon legitmizes that control option and is THE way to control it.

If it's motion controlled only then this goes to an instant not-buy for me.

I liked the gyro controls in Star Fox 64 3D. Great way to make quick adjustments.

Starfox is again live on Treehouse. Additional robot gameplay and switching between screens is straight up taken from Wonderful 101 inside-outside concept.
