Friend Code Game Access and Availability System Controls
Does the New Nintendo 3DS One Friend Code System have Game/User Access and Availability Controls?
Does the Friend Menu in the Nintendo 3DS system firmware provide options that allow you to control, organize and choose which of your games will be accessible to particular Friends?
For example, let’s say that I have the games Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Resident Evil: Mercenaries, and Animal Crossing 3DS, and I would like to play online with the users Brother, Friend, and Acquaintance.
I want to be able to play all three of my games online with Brother; I want to play Street Fighter and Mercenaries with Friend, but I do not trust him to be in my town in Animal Crossing; I want to play Street Fighter online with Acquaintance, but I don’t want to play co-op with him in Mercenaries or Animal Crossing.
Using the old Wii and DS/DSi Friend Code System, I would give my Codes from all three games to Brother, and I would receive all three of his Codes. Then, I would give only two of my Codes, the one for Street Fighter and the one for Mercenaries, to Friend, and I would receive those two Codes from him. Finally, I would swap Codes for only Street Fighter with Acquaintance.
Using the new 3DS Friend Code System, I would give my Code to each of the other three users, Brother, Friend, and Acquaintance, and I would receive each of their Codes. Then, can I go to the menu in the Nintendo 3DS firmware and organize the settings so that Brother has access to all three games, Friend sees only Street Fighter and Mercenaries, and Acquaintance can only see that I have Street Fighter?
Does the 3DS Friend Code System also allow for more customization and allow me to change these settings as I see fit? Would I no longer be stuck with someone having a Friend Code for my game where I no longer want to play online with that person? For example, if I no longer wanted to play Street Fighter with Acquaintance, could I hide the game from his view so that he can no longer see that I have the game, or so he can no longer see when I am online? Or, if I don’t want to play Mercenaries with Friend anymore, can I hide that game from his view. Would it also allow me to add games to users as well? For Example, if I wanted to play Mercenaries with Acquaintance can I make it available for him to see that I have it just by changing my previous settings? Or, if I wanted to play Animal Crossing with Friend can I make that game available to him, all without having to provide or retrieve more Friend Codes? Finally, does the 3DS Friend Code System allow multiple users to login to a single Nintendo 3DS system with each of their configurations saved for them (Think of a single system household with multiple Nintendo 3DS users).
I hope that this has been explained clearly enough. I hope that this is how the new system works. As inconvenient as it has been to use Friend Codes for the Wii and DS/DSi, at least it functionally kept Friend and Acquaintance out of my Animal Crossing town. I would not prefer a system that allows anyone with my Friend Code to connect to any of my games or even show them which games I own without restrictions. As long as there is a way for me to control, set up, and organize which of my games are available to which Friends, then I’m good. That is why I have not been too upset with the old system. However, I believe that this can be done in the firmware instead of through the use of separate Friend Codes per game. With the Nintendo 3DS, I hope that they are taking this opportunity to improve the efficiency and convenience of an already functionally effective system, rather than replacing the system altogether with one that offers less access control. Thank you.
