What Bloodworth was trying to say is that Nintendo didn't devolope the games.  LucasArts did.  LucasArts, and not Nintendo, can decide if they will rerelease the games again.  Most likely, they will not.

What is a 'tie ratio'?  Is that the games sold divided by systems sold for the month (or overall)?

My WalMart just got Bomberman Jetters in yesterday.  We're selling it for just $14.96.  Sweet deal, eh?

It seems there's about 40 of them... I want to try to list them all.

I'm semi-certain these are all Player's Choice Titles:

007 Agent Under Fire
007 Nightfire
Animal Crossing
Enter the Matrix
F-Zero GX
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Luigi's Mansion
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Metroid Prime
NBA Street Vol. 2
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Pacman World 2/Pacman Vs
Pikmin
Rayman 3
Resident Evil
Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Spiderman
Spyro Enter the Dragonfly
Star Fox Adventures
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Monkey Ball
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Wario World
Wrestlemania x8

I don't know about these:
Wave Race: Blue Storm?
Eternal Darkness?

Does anyone know of any others?

I saved in a diferent place with practically no health.  There's some crows (or some sort of flying beasts) that attack me.  The only way I can figure to kill them is to just GUESS when the right time is to swing (since the camera isn't at a good angle).  Even though I have quite a lot of sand, there's at least 5 of these birds... so I ALWAYS end up dying.  I haven't had the heart to restart from the begining yet... (this second time I will stagger multiple saves so that I can go back to my older save in case this kind of thing happens again).

To run in 16x9, the game has to support it (like F-Zero GX and Soul Calibur II).  There should be an option somewhere to change it.

If a game doesn't support 16x9 then (it depends on how good your TV is but) you can probably stretch and/or zoom in on the picture so that it takes up most of the screen.  Alternatively, you could have an unstretched picture with black bars on the left and right side of the screen. That's how I prefer to play it - I don't like to stretch the image or zoom in so that I miss something on the top or botom of the screen.

I always scan them to see if the price dropped... (kinda dumb, since I could almost know that it would still be the same price).  I'll try not scanning them for 2 months.

I think I tried doing that  with Crazy Taxi (which was up until recently) $30.  I marked it down to $20, but someone caught onto it and marked it back up. :-\

I'll see if I can get the department manager to mark them down some.  ::shrugs::

The WalMart I work at got in between 4 and 12 copies around December 23rd...  I really don't remember exactly how many copies there were of it, but I'm certain they were all gone before Christmas.

(I work at Wal-Mart.)  The reason why Wal-Mart gets their 'new-release' games after EB is because of the way they distribute their games.  If Wal-Mart wants to buy 100,000 of a game, the distributor (such as Nintendo) will send the game to Wal-Mart's main distribution center (which I would assume would be in Bentonville, Arkansas).  From there, the product gets split up, along with many other products, to go to the regional warehouses (on a truck).  At the regional warehouses, the product gets split up by store once again and gets put on another truck to go to the actual stores.  EB, on the other hand, has the games sent directly from the distributor (like Nintendo) straight to each and every store.  It costs EB a lot more money to have to pay for the direct shipping, but customers get the games on time.

And it's very annoying that Nintendo doesn't cut prices on older games.  We have about 12 copies of Mickey Mouse and 2 copies of NBA Courtside 2002 that will never ever sell at $49.96.  If Wal-Mart marks it down, that comes out of Wal-Mart's (admitidly very large) pockets, but I think it may also come out of my annual bonus check (I'm not really certain of this, though).  Anyway, it's not cool. :-\

And I think it's shady that Microsoft doesn't have a set number of games sold or shipped.  Rather they're games that are "proven to be all-time favorites".  Ah well.

Wait, there's no requirement to be Greatest Hits/Player's Choice/Platinum Hits?  That's super lame. :\

With Enter the Matrix joining the Player's Choice games, I got to wondering...

What are the requirements for a game to become a Player's Choice?

How many GameCube Player's Choice games are there?

Are there a lot more XBox Platinum Hits games?  (I'm sure there's a ton more PS2 Greatest Hits games.)

General Chat / RE: Tour of Former Nintendo Developer Rare HQ
« on: March 10, 2004, 06:50:46 AM »
(My only next-gen console right now is a GameCube.)  My plan since the Rare purchase was announced has always been this: wait until Rare releases a good game and buy an XBox at that point.  The XBox has already gone from $300 to $200 to $180.  I'll probably only be $100 by the time there's a good game (from Rare).   Grabbed By The Goullies wasn't the good game from Rare I've been waiting for.  I already own Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64; I won't pay for it again.  Kameo seemed initially interesting, but the XBox version has changed for the worse in my mind (final judgement is reserved for when the game actually comes out).  I'll have to wait patiently and see if Rare will ever make another good game.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:can i play gc on a laptop
« on: March 05, 2004, 06:13:22 PM »
So long as it's an S-Video INPUT (and not OUTput), then yes, it'll work.  I've never had a laptop, but I would think that the s-video plug would be an output, so that you could hook up the little laptop to a TV (just a guess).  Anyway, if you're sure it's an s-video input, all you'd need to do is get an S-Video connection for your GameCube and you can view the video.  As for how you'd listen to the audio... you could probably get some sort of converter at Radio Shack (or somewhere) that'll conver the red & white plugs to a headphone jack.

The Wal*Mart I work at has a third party memory card (59 blocks) for $4.97 (or thereabouts).  I think Nyko makes it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DPL II/Progressive Scan Support

I know these questions don't really pertain to GameCube, but...

What resolution is better, 720p or 1080i?

What's the diference between DD(Dolby Digital) and DTS(and what does DTS stand for?)?

I like that hdgames.net site the best, since I can actually add to it.

Another question.  Is "Dolby Surround" the same as "Dolby Pro Logic" (1)?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: For those who didn't buy Beyond Good & Evil...
« on: February 28, 2004, 12:42:06 PM »
More specificly, my New Years Resolution was to not buy ANY games this year.  This includes new games and old games (as some of my game purchases are old school games for the NES and so forth).  The only exception to this rule was Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, which I had pre-ordered last year.  Also, friends and family can buy me games (for a birthday or for Christmas, most likely), but I can't give anyone money so that they can buy me game (duh).  As further incentive to not buy any new games this year, my best friend bet $50 against me that I would fail in my resolution.  So, thanks for the idea, Rhoq, but it wouldn't work out.  If you want to buy me a copy of BG&E, however, I'll give you my adress.

Yeah, I got Deadly Alliance after getting Soul Callibur II.  A waste of $20, since I already had the far supperior SC II.  I could play SC II with my best friend FOREVER.  I'm quite confident Namco will continue making fighting games (of some sort) for Nintendo systems, considering how well the GameCube version did.  That's better than a Midway fighter any day of week IMHO.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DPL II/Progressive Scan Support
« on: February 27, 2004, 08:44:08 PM »
Interesting... I knew that DPL II systems would read any signal and try to make it in surround sound (In Animal Crossing, for example, if I walk around the radio in my room I can hear it coming from different speakers giving it a slightly weird surround effect - despite AC having claiming no surround support).  I didn't realise that there were (so m)any games that support regular DPL.

Now, I have another question.  How exactly does my five speaker surround system handle a four speaker signal?  Does it recognise it as four signals and just not play sound in one speaker?  Or does it (as I kind of suspect it does) just blend the sound to the extra speaker (just like in Animal Crossing, only not as poorly)?

Thank you.  Although I don't think that list has all the games, it's much better than nothing.

Does anyone know a good place that lists every GameCube game and which ones support Dolby Pro Logic II, Progressive Scan and widescreen?  The IGN forums had (and possibly still have) such a list, but that forum is is only accessable by becoming a paying member.  I thought I saw a similar list on this forum a long time ago.  Anyway, if anyone knows a good place for this kind of info, I would appreciate it.

1) The Wal-Mart I work at never got in a single copy.

2) I bought far too many games last year that I haven't beaten (or in some instances even played)

3) Because of #2 I made my New Years Resolution be to not buy any games this year.
