Despite a recent listing, Mario's next sports game is set for release next year.

Mario Golf: World Tour is still coming out in 2014 despite being listed in Nintendo's recent financials as a summer release in North America, and late 2013 in Europe.

"Nintendo of America can confirm the game will be available in 2014," a Nintendo representative told us.

The game was originally slated for a summer release, but was delayed until 2014 during E3 this year. World Tour will finally bring online play to the Mario Golf franchise as well as a community feature, similar to that found in Mario Kart 7.

Does the delay perhaps indicate there's an RPG mode like the GBA games of old? I really hope so.

Don't count on it, son.
