Nintendo Gaming / Free Club Nintendo Points (North America)
« on: June 27, 2011, 04:48:51 PM »
So I recently received New Super Mario for both DS and Wii.  Club Nintendo is telling me I can not register these titles again.  My loss is one of your gains.

New Super Mario Wii: KUM-J2XY-LGLY-HSM

New Super Mario DS: 9J2-WTVY-TLSL-R6T

Whoever uses the codes it would be appreciated if you just dropped a message back in this forum to let me know when they are no longer valid.  Sorry in advance if creating a thread like this is against rulezzzzz.

WHEN WILL MY 3DS FRIENDS LIST ACTUALLY BE USABLE?  I am growing tired of trying to use facebook chat and twitter to try to contact people who are "online" and invite them to a game.

Im interested in hearing about the controller options and if the tablet touch screen will be used like the fighting games on the 3ds( with a lite mode for combo input). also tatsunoko fight stick compatibility? logic tells me that should work since you can use a classic controller on wii U   right...........right?

I love excitebike.  It is also extremely encouraging to see nintendo open to the idea of allowing some small changes to the game other than just the 3d.

Surely Microsoft and Apple are just as dickish as Sony , so explain to me again how pc gaming is a more viable option for some one complaining about "draconian bullshit"...

note that running Steam games through linux based software like wine or some such **** doesnt count and is a non answer.

Despite my terrible experiences with Pilot wings at best buy( looked all doubley and blurry)  i picked up the 3ds this morning.  I didnt think the 3d would work for me but wow, i must eat a bit of crow.  I bought street fighter and the 3d is fantastic.  I was soo skeptical but this new system feels amazing and is a treat to look at.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: I played the 3DS today - who wants to touch me?
« on: March 24, 2011, 03:55:55 PM »
Played the system at best buy today for a good chunk of time. For my eyes the 3d did not really work,  trying to find the sweet spot was frustrating as can be.  The 3d was never consistent and constantly faded in and out.  this was especially disorienting/dizzying because when it would fade out it looked incredibly blurry.I suspect this is a personal problem as my roomate also tried the system and had no difficulties seeing the effects. Although,  the window of movement that will mess up the effect is incredibly small that much we could both agree on.  so i was like ok 3d just is not for me so i tried it with out the 3d and i found the graphical upgrade to be marginal at best.   I dont want to be to hard on the visuals because it is a launch game, but saying it has wii level graphics does a great disservice to the wii(unless we are talking ninjabread man level graphics then yea).    The one redeeming quality that i could find   was the slide pad.  That thing is great and PWR controlled great with it..   All in all this makes me incredibly sad as i was intending on the 3ds being the first system i ever buy on launch, but am left with a feeling like some stranger just kicked my dog.

General Chat / Re: Questions for the NWR Japan crew
« on: March 08, 2011, 03:04:15 PM »
Two questions:

Could you describe japan's arcade scene.  Is it still thriving, is it more of a retro machine type of thing, or are people still flocking to play the latest stuff competitively at the arcade.

Are public bathrooms in Japan as weird as I hear?  I recall on one of 1up's podcasts they were describing how one of the urinals at the bathroom was shaped like a clown face and when you peed in it the clown laughed at you and swayed its head. And when you were finished it flashed a camera as if to be taking a picture of your junk.(all in good fun i presume).  Another feature they mentioned was that some bathrooms had a sound tunnel of sorts so you could hear the women in the bathroom from the mens room. Or that there are one sided windows above the urinals and on the other side on the window is the women's bathroom mirror.   Can you confirm any of this or have you run into similar things?

General Gaming / Re: Accessiblity and the Fighting Game Genre
« on: February 26, 2011, 02:19:50 AM »
@lolmonade your second paragraph hit home to me as that has been my complaint for years.  Luckily tatsunoko has the exact feature you described it seems, which is to say it allows you see a small command list during gameplay, and the list switches depending on which character you have out.  the game also couples the feature with the ability to see you control inputs as you play to see where you went wrong.

Also on the main topic... arcade stick arcade stick arcade stick.  it makes alot of moves wildly easier to do giving you more time to worry about what to do and when to do it and where to do it and less focus on execution of a tricky Z shaped pattern or some such crap
