Podcast Discussion / Nintendo Pirate Radio: RetroActive Fridge Raid
« on: May 27, 2013, 06:23:41 PM »

We now interrupt your regularly scheduled RFN for this randomized tour through the Wii Shop Channel.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/34336

This episode is a major departure from the usual format, as the show is hijacked by the original gaming podcast pirates, Karl and Stan, as co-creator Mike Sklens and innocent bystander Jon Rind look on. Jonny is there too, compelled to host or else walk the plank right out of his own window.

The first main topic is an overview of Wii U from the perspective of three guys who are playing it for the first time this week -- in ideal conditions, no less. Impressions are strong, and despite some reservations about the current lineup, there is considerable hope for the unveiling to come at E3 in just a couple more weeks.

The second half of this episode is spent recounting our exploitation of Jonny's SD Card in Wii Mode, which is chock full of obscure Virtual Console games (from nearly every platform supported) and even more obscure WiiWare exclusives. It's an all-you-can-play buffet, and the list of games is just too long to recreate here, but you can follow the related game links on the right sidebar for more information about most of them.

The normal RFN crew will be back next week, with highly (or morbidly?) anticipated E3 predictions, plus all the actual new games they've been enjoying over a week off from the show.

Sadly, that is a no.  Maybe one day when I get better at this stuff and editing doesn't take an entire week of 5 hour evenings.

I'll be doing one of these a week.  My entire time at home from work is spent editing.   =oP

So I'm pimping my new project and Karls' new site.

Thoroughly Manly Musicals.  Video reviews of the fabulous art but with 100% more chest hair.

Well i just tried popping in Lost Odyssey, but the DVD either has a scratch or is dirty so it's not loading past a certain spot.  There goes my attempt to return to gaming.  Maybe we can have a segment talking about Popcap games.

Sklens is a hater,  I can respect that.
I miss Evan, NWR needs to start literary reviews so  he can write for the site again.
Stan seemed out of it. Really didn't want to be there?
Karl has proven himself the best podcaster of the old guard over the long run. Keep us informed when you do a new podcast Karl!

Yeah, I was very much out of it.  Lot's of things going on during that day, none of them perky.  On top of that, I didn't have a mic (hence the lovely background noise) and I got cut off halfway through the first segment.  It was frustrating.  Plus, I really had nothing interesting to add as I've had a very dull and non-videogame oriented life as of late.  And my job in medical billing doesn't allow for interesting tales.

God forbid, I was almost emo.

I'm really glad so many of you enjoyed the show.  We had more fun than any human being should making it.  It really was, I felt, in the spirit of Nintendo Pirate Radio.

His WoW time is from 6pm to when he can no longer keep his eyes open.  On his days off it's much the same only it starts at 7am   ;)

What Jonny is saying is that I = fail.  I was trying to be polite to my roommate by not uploading during his WoW time, and uploaded early in the morning as I was leaving for work.  This turned out to be a bad idea.  So the failure for this to be on time is all mine!

So there!

Vote Khush for being evil in two places at once.  And big thanks to whoever the doctor was.  I'm just a townie (yeah, yeah, i know, we all are), but still appreciate still being in the game.  I'd offer to let me get killed again next time these fools vote me out and save someone else, but that will depend on how many good guys are still left.

We still got the bounty hunter; so hopefully he'll make a good hit soon.  Like Khush, if no one else ends up voting for him.

I rarely announce my desire to rape those whom I love.  Especially in public.  It just seems rude.

I have a canker sore on my lip and it hurts.  Yet, I keep tinkering with it.  Why must I tinker with my painful canker sore?

The only question I would have is what server would it be hosted on?  The reason all the others are gone is because Odeo blew up.

I'd like to revive God's Favorite Podcast.

However, the podcasts I listen to religiously are:

Studio 360
This American Life - Best Radio Show Ever
Talk of the Nation Science Friday
Fresh Air

I know all of these are real radio shows and all on NPR, but damn they are good.

When someone who's forum name has two words that both resemble "spank," I worry when I see the words "more" and "come."

It's not that I don't like Karl; it's that he occationally regularly has very strong opinions that are completely wrong.  :)

But his love for SUDA51 makes him a pretty swell guy overall.

Well, I'm glad at least someone liked my work on the Podcast.  Had I stayed long enough, I would've added innovative things such as The Mancake Minute, Sweet Pete's Sweet Meats costarring Blue Ball's Beautiful Bologna (it's about cooking); and of course copious amounts of nudity.

I suppose it's a great loss to all of us that events transpired as they did (me hiding from the angry and misguided mob of PANGYA lovers.)

I didn't get a chance to kill anyone.  Apparently, I was killed before i could make my kill.

In my rules, I'd still have died, but my kill would have gone through.   >:(

Why are you using a different poster-name, Karl?

Sklens is Obi.

Greg is Yoshidious, and he's the best thing to happen to the podcast since Stan left.

That could either be a nice compliment or highly upsetting.

Way to go townie jerks.  The single most useful player to the townies is now dead.

What made you useful?  What did Pyramid Head do?  I'm confused.
