:O I was just on a noir kick recently. Watch The Maltese Falcon guys.. and Chinatown of course.

Last movie I watched (finally): 500 Days of Summer. Surprisingly good (and funny)!

Best line: "I think you know what I need ........... uh, toner."

Good summer for movies. Up's "Married Life" montage was beyond incredible. Hurt Locker was intense. Hangover was pretty funny ("...almost bankrupted the casino, and he was a ri-TARD!"). District 9 was a pleasant surprise. Inglourious Basterd's is Tarantino's third best movie.

Funny People was **** though. Transformers 2 was mongoose ****. Public Enemies was almost EXACTLY THE SAME as Heat. Come on Michael Mann.

Retro pick: Watched Sunset Blvd again and it's still amazing. I can't believe how well it aged. WATCH IT PEOPLE.

Want to watch Zombieland, 500 Days of Summer, and Ponyo.

Icecold has decent taste in movies.

Yeah, I don't like Transformers 3 ;)

YI DS had broken game mechanics in trying to achieve 100% in multiple levels so it's the red headed stepchild to Miyamoto's octomom of awesome game children.

Artoon made it, not Nintendo. And yeah, it's terrible.

The 120 stars have always been an optional thing and nothing else.

They're not optional if you actually want to get the enjoyment the designers intend from the game, because usually those first 50-60 required stars are the least interesting in the entire game to collect.  The "A" material tends to come with the last 30 or so stars, so you still have to slog through a large portion of unnecessary collecting just to get to the good parts of game.  At least that's what I've gotten from the last 3 3D Mario games.

Psh. I'd hardly say getting stars in a 3D Mario game is "collecting".

So far I count two multiplatform games which are head and shoulders above the PS360 versions - Pro Evolution Soccer and Tiger Woods. That's exactly what we were hoping for, in addition to Wii exclusives. Can anyone else think of another game like this?

The only people I expect to hear complaining about Mario Galaxy 2 are the ones who complained about Majora's Mask.

Nope. This is different because Majora's Mask was significantly different from OoT.. SMG2 looks almost exactly the same, and I really dislike that. All Mario games before this one have been distinct from their predecessors - not so much here.

EDIT: I know this will be an incredible game. There's no way it won't. But I'm saddened by the lack of originality, especially from the best game studio in the world.

Hmm.

Hmmmmm.

Not sure what to make of this. On the one hand, Galaxy is in my top 5 games ever and I love it to death. So of course I'm excited for more... but I dunno. I liked having only one Mario platformer per generation - it makes them even more special. The last thing I want is to have an unoriginal and uninspired Mario game, which I don't like as much since I've already had a very similar experience not so long ago.

But most of all, I don't want Tokyo EAD (the best developers in the world) to be tied down to this - they should be on to other things (*cough* Pikmin).

The bastards didn't announce F-Zero Wii. Dammit.

IDIOTS.

I asked him this a long time ago, and I'm disappointed that vudu doesn't remember the answer. I thought we were sharp memory bros, but apparently not. Before I stopped visiting here often, I prided myself in reading and remembering everything posted on the forums, and I know he did too. Like Caterkiller and Wu Shu. I thought he'd carry on the tradition when I was MIA :(

It's Krono DisRuptor. I thought it was Kill/Death Ratio as well but it's not.

Regarding SMW vs SMB3, my personal opinion is that Nintendo hit a level of perfection with SMB3 that has yet to be matched by any game since. When I played Super Mario World, it just felt bland in comparison. Still an amazing game, but not quite as good as SMB3.

Remember SpakSpang? Now that dude is surprising. It turns out he's a stunt double, teaches Wu-Shu, and does mo-cap work.

Huh? Isn't that Caterkiller?

48
Well if the threshold covers only allows Nintendo to cover the costs it incurs to put up the game, then it's fair. In fact, if the developers were fronting these costs themselves they'd be losing money, so they should be thanking Nintendo (if what I said is in fact true).

49
Yeah I think we all underestimated the long legs of this new breed of games..

Couch, I think Player's Choice will still be there, and we'll still get the deals regardless of whether Nintendo is the market leader or not.. When a game is released, and its sales are stagnant for a while after the initial release, it just makes good business sense to have a pricecut to stimulate more sales. For example, it's better to sell 10 copies at $30 rather than 4 copies at $60. ALSO, bargain games are always a selling point to late adopters (and definitely casual/nongamers in this case), and Nintendo wants to ensure that 2 or 3 years after launch, there's a good range of games for that type of customer. It would ensure that consoles keep getting sold at a constant rate. And FINALLY, more games equals a better software tie-in ratio. It may be somewhat artificial since they were sold at a lower price, but developers always look at the tie-in ratio when they decide whether to support a console or not. Regarding why they didn't have Player's Choice for earlier consoles, I'll chalk it up to the Yamauchi era..
