If you don't have a lot of money, then you really can't do that. :P

worst part about it is that I don't even play most of the games I buy... and as of the last 2-4 years, I hardly play the games I do "play".

If you don't have a lot of money, then you really can't do that. :P:

Can't do what? Splurge or budget? I would argue you need to budget no matter what. It is what helps me stretch every dollar as far as possible. I have a very finite budget for "fun" items like games or eating out so this allows me to maximize my entertainment. I don't even get enough each month to buy one full-priced game so I really plan out of necessity.

Do I set aside enough to buy Hyrule Warriors in the Fall and if so, does that mean I can only get Smash U in the Winter and I have nothing but those two games for the rest of the year? Or do I delay one of them to pick up some indie titles or steam bargains? Decisions, decisions...

Budgeting gives you more freedom because you are telling your money where to go instead of it telling you...leaving you waking up wondering why payday can't be sooner. Studies have shown that putting each dollar down, on paper and on purpose, each month is similar to giving yourself a raise because you catch all of the "little" expenses that would typically suck up your hard earned money.

It is not one or two giant purchases that kill a person, it is death by a thousand cuts.

LOL, agreed. That is how I nearly lost my housing and have to move back in with my parents. I pre-ordered so many games on Amazon for promo credits and forgot about the "bill when they are shipped" policy that I paid more in overdrafts than I saved from the pre-order credits and nearly drained an entire paycheck. That was a tough time.

Part of me misses the thrill of spontaneous purchases but I know for me it leads to a path of personal destruction. Not even small unplanned purchases cause a pang in my gut.

I am much more conservative on Steam but with Nintendo consoles I am more willing to purchase because I know the copies can quickly become high in demand post-generation while Steam games rarely disappear.

I have no real budget. But I convince myself year round that I am broke... but then I go on spending sprees from time to time.... even though I'm "broke".

that's how I budget.

Might have to go get a Pro controller and that is the cheapest I have ever seen them go. I can't stand the Wii Classic Controller Pros anymore because the sticks are too close together for my liking.

Bestbuy.com and CheapAssGamer don't mention it either. Hoping it turns out to be true still.

Me too,I always have to use the gamepad when my daughter and I play MK8 together, which is the biggest wasted potential for "asymmetrical gameplay" of all time. I can't believe they didn't do gamepad - TV non-splitscreen multiplayer.

It's like they made the game for people who have no friends or family locally and were meant to only play the game in online multiplayer. Why is the mad only visible for the gamepad player?

Very odd choices for that game.

Batman:Arkham Origins for Wii U is 14.99 on Amazon.ca today. No idea if it will last but it finally got me to purchase the game.

I got it for 17. May be a sign that we are seeing some of the older U titles nearing the end of their "Amazon shelf life". Going to guess some of these will begin disappearing soon unless you want used. Now the real question is what they will go for shrink-wrapped after they drop out.

I have a feeling that most Wii U games will remain cheap since the system isn't popular.

I'm more thinking long-term. I half expect Wii U to become similar to Dreamcast is standing though the U will have a full life cycle which can impact the demand post-gen.

Gamecubes are being sold refurbished at Gamestop for $19.99. Includes a controller, which is what the controllers are being sold right now for Smash Bros. coming up on the Wii U. So basically, this is a controller that comes with a free console. A perfect companion to the Wii U since it doesn't play GC games. :)

And still my favorite system! The perfect storm of when I had the time and money to get all the games I wanted and be able to play them along with other friends who also had the time. Ah, the memories. I almost got out of gaming but it was so good, it kept me going on down to this day.

Word of warning - if you're picking up a used GameCube for the controller, get it in store so you can inspect the controller.  Sometimes, you get third party crap, other time you get first party controllers that have been treated like crap.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

I have a feeling they are the rejects they couldn't sell in stores, like the last time they had GameCube games in stock (and any that might be left now). Which means they're going to look like someone put them inside a blender.
