It's still the second-best odd-numbered Star Trek movie.
Sad but true. JJ breaks this pattern if you were to consider it Star Trek which I don't.

I was counting JJ, Beyond was the one I had ahead of it.

1st of the odds would be the Search for Spock. Including JJ Generations gets knocked to 4th.

Into Darkness takes over from Final Frontier for the worse although I am tempted to swap Frontier with Insurrection for how ungodly convoluted, contrived and boring it is. FF at least had a great ending "What does God need with a Starship?".

Have/did you watch First Contact yet RABicle? Now that is a great Star Trek movie. 3rd place behind Khan and Undiscovered Country.
First Contact is a good movie, but I'm not sure it's a good Star Trek movie. Picard seems to be a completely different person.
Good to see you guys also hate Into Darkness. What a shitshow.

I liked Generations outside of the terrible final act.

As for Into Darkness, it's...weird. I LOATHED that 1st Abrams Star Trek movie, but I remember liking Into Darkness when I saw it in the theaters w/ my dad. However, as time's passed, my opinions on that movie have radically shifted in the opposite direction as less & less of that movie makes sense when you think about it. Hell, it reminds me of how my opinion of Frozen's shifted over the years.

Wolfenstein   Overlord 8/10 You know how pretty much all all video game based movies are bad? Well this one is not a movie branded as Wolfensten, but it could have been. It was pretty good popcorn/war/horror.

Does anyone watch the CinemaSins channel on youtube?

Th3Birdman has a countersins channel where he sins the sins video. He totally lays into him and rips him to shreds.

Yeah, I watch them. I hope this guy lays into them for that Mary Poppins video. So much nonsense, even beyond the usual nitpicking.

You wish Cinema Sin was nitpicking, every movie they just make **** up and it isn't even funny. For every real observation there are 5 bits of BS.

I loath Star Trek from JJ onwards for poisoning the well. JJ put Trek in hospital, STitD shot, gutted and defenestrated the corpse. Beyond was the funeral. STD is Weekend at Bernies with the dug up rotting corpse filled with screaming cats.

As bad as the previous movies were they didn't intentionally **** on Trek. They would **** up, maybe apologise, have a laugh at how bad it is and move on looking to do better, rather than defending a turd to the last by throwing it into a fan. This effect in not way restricted to ST btw.

Bird Box - 3/10
Absolutely terrible movie. Go ahead and watch it, since everyone else has...just don't expect a good movie.

I did... Almost left a review, actually started typing it, then realized I wasn't even sure what to say about it, so I abandoned the post

Not sure if I'd give it a 3, but I'm not recommending anyone spend time to watch it either.

I can't tell if it makes it better or worse that there is essentially no real ending, and I don't think it's that's similar to A Quiet Place like some people say, but the two movies do the same thing where they focus on one small group of people/family and you don't really know how most of society is dealing with the issues. I'm pretty sure that the antagonist in Bird Box is Cthulhu though.

Well the ending to Bird Box is they're more or less in a safety sanctuary. They haven't defeated evil, but that isn't something they can do.

As far as these types of movies go this wasn't a bad one. It is reminiscent of A Quiet Place, but A quiet Place is more or less reminiscent of It comes at Night. This is a little more The Darkest Hour, or Vanishing on 7th Street.

As far as the bad guys in the movie goes. It is probably what Lil Rel is talking about. Some sort of Rapture. This also reminded me of the Remaining.

So the recommendation list is:

It Comes at Night  (Joel Edgerton) - Something has happened to the world, People must remain indoors and not make much noise.

The Darkest Hour  (Emile Hirsch)  - Something has happened and People Disintegrate once noticed by a mysterious adversary, possibly alien in origin.

The Remaining (Italia Ricci) - The Rapture has happened. Everyone died except a few remaining people.

This is the End - A Rapture Comedy.

Vanishing on 7th Street. (John Leguizamo, Thandie Newton, Hayden Christenson) - Something has happened and the world is overwhelmed by darkness.

Pitch Black (Vin Diesel, Keith David) A commercial transport ship and its crew are marooned on a planet full of bloodthirsty creatures that only come out to feast at night. But then, they learn that a month-long eclipse is about to occur.

Blindness (Julianne Moore, Danny Glover) - Something has happened and most people went blind.

The Day of the Triffids (1962) - After mass viewing of a celestial event the majority of the worlds population has gone blind. To complicate matters a species of plant monsters has awakened and infested the world. It's up to the one guy who had eye surgery the night before to save the world.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Harrison Ford, Keren Allen, John Rhys Davies, Alfred Molina) - Don't look over at the Ark of the covenant once it's been opened. Having re-watched this recently it made me appreciate the angle of the movie.

The Happening (Mark Wahlburg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo) - Something has happened and all the people in the world are commiting suicide when they come in contact with something er other.

Night of the Comet - I can't recommend this movie more. It is exactly what I look for in a movie.

I honestly thought Birdbox was okay. It didn't seem to have any aspirations of being a great movie, but I thought it was still pretty interesting. However, it's starting to become one of those movies that gets worse the more I think about it.

Vice - 9/10
Very funny, very infuriating. It will probably make you pretty angry, but it's really funny. Many of the characters and impressions are spot-on, like Bale as Cheney, Rockwell as W, whoever the hell played Wolfowitz - but a few (while good performances) are way off, like Carell as Rumsfeldt, Perry as Powell. Still, a must-see in my opinion. I guess you would say it's biased, but Dick Cheney is a horrible human being, and there are a lot of facts in the movie which prove that.
