Nindies At Night Roundup: Shovel Knight, Space And More

Brought to you by the star of such Nintendo Directs as "November" and "April".

Tonight in Seattle, Nintendo hosted the Nindies @ Night event to announce several new indie titles for the Wii U and give PAX attendees to play some recent indie titles. Damon Baker hosted the event, and we got some big news for the eShop.

The biggest news of the night came at the end, as Shovel Knight developers Yacht Club Games took the stage to confirm the rumored The Shovel Knight Amiibo is real. No North American release has been announced, though GAME in the UK was taking preorders as of 10:30pm ET last night for a 27 November European release. This is still to be confirmed. The Amiibo will work with Shovel Knight in an update to add co-op on the Wii U version, as well as new challenges missions and gear on both the Wii U and 3DS titles.

Additionally, the Plague of Shadows DLC was dated for September in a post-event press release.

A video posted last night inadvertently confirmed that Squad's PC rocketry simulator Kerbal Space Program was coming to the Wii U with the help of Flying Tiger Entertainment, and it had its debut at Nindies @ Night. Coming out on all current console platforms including Wii U, the Wii U version will support the GamePad for course setting or a first person cockpit view, as well as motion controls for the ship itself.

Black Lantern Studios showed their new Wii U title exclusive Hive Jump, a 1-4 player run and gun platformer that uses procedurally generated levels for exploration. The game is targeting a 1st quarter 2016 release and will have Amiibo support.

Shin'en's FAST Racing Neo was shown off again, and the game was reconfirmed for 16 tracks, 2-4 player splitscreen that maintains 60 FPS and eight player online races. FAST Racing Neo will launch on the eShop by the end of the year.

The other new game announced at Nindies @ Night and playable was the announcement that the upcoming puzzle title Tumblestone - a 1-4 player puzzle game - was coming to the Wii U.

The following titles were playable at the event: Runbow, Binding of Isaac Rebirth, SteamWorld Heist, Starwhal, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, Year Walk (now dated for September 17), Action Henk, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, Oddworld New 'n Tasty.

True. Gamexplain has a video up which shows the base. If you're wondering, there is no Super Smash Bros. logo on it. Maybe it'll unlock a Mii costume. Right now, it's just for Shovel Knight.

Speaking of Gamexplain, it just uploaded an interview Damon Baker from Nintendo who revealed that Yacht Club Games is producing and distributing the Shovel Knight Amiibo (Nintendo merely had to license "Amiibo") so hopefully, it'll handle that well.

This is fantastic news, in that I don't have any faith in Nintendo to produce enough stock to satisfy demand.
Yacht Club Games might not be better, but at least there is a chance they will be.

Maybe this also gets third parties in the game to produce Amiibos as well. Of course, without games they'd be (even more) useless.

They're nice decorations which is currently what I use them for. I don't care about Amiibo otherwise.

Same here. Really wanted Shulk, Mega Man, and Villager just because I love the respective series. Not expecting to get any real gameplay value from them.
