It's always in the 1st post, but i hadn't voted yet, so I voted for Viva Rock Vegas since it had been a close second for the 4 weeks in a row now.

done. This poll is gonna run all the way through till next Sunday.
I'm changing how the voting works so that it's not so confusing.

New Vote will work like this.

Voting will be active from Sunday to Sunday
Movies will play from Wednesday to Wednesday.

For example.

Flinstones is the next movie up on next Wednesday(June 30th) till the following Wednesday(July 7th).
This current vote will end on Sunday(July 4th) and the movie selected will be what is watched starting that Wed. (July 7th).

That will end confusion on what is to be watched next and have a shorter time between selection and viewing.

Just FYI, I'm going through a Move right now between houses and the house I'm going to won't have internet until July 3rd.  As such, I'm probably going to do my commentary of The Rocketeer tonight before all my stuff goes out to the other house.  If anyone else wants to do it then, you're more than welcome.

So...apparently you can't post images here unless they're hosted online somewhere.  That sucks.

Ok, the Rocketeer!  This is an old favorite of mine, though I haven't seen it in years.  So far, it's been fun in that pulp comic silly way that the Indiana Jones movies are as well: epic music + solid casting + really goofy over-acting and stereotyping.  I just love how this is 1938 Los Angeles, and yet not only the criminals but the Feds as well talk like they're from 1920s Gangster Chicago.   :P: :

What do you mean "Dick Tracy called!  They want their goons back!"

0:42:00

Yeah...this movie wasn't exactly Disney's shining moment in special effects, and time has not been kind to them.  It's definitely a good thing our Rocketeer friend here apparently has flame-proof pants, because otherwise that looks like it would be rather painful.

And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you with a Nazi Invasion Plan so ridiculous and implausible it makes their plan to use the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail look logical by comparison.

Foolish Americans!  They'll have no choice but to surrender when they see our swarms of unarmored formation-flying men coming!  OF COURSE!  Don't you know anything about SCIENCE?!!!!

The movie's approaching its epic conclusion, with a nice little sequence where we get a series of escalating gunmen rings (first, we have the mob boss that orders his men to train their guns on Sinclaire, then Sinclair calls out his Nazi stormtroopers to surround them and train their guns on the mobsters, and then the FBI comes out of hiding to surround all of them).  Three moments here really stick out to me as memorable.

The first:

Here we have a pair of unlikely allies joining forces to fend off the Nazi invaders: a mob boss and an FBI agent.  I just love this split/second moment where the two end up side-by-side, and then they just stop to give each other a very "WTF?!" sort of look, and then they're back to fighting off Nazis.

The second:

I just love this shot with the Rocketeer standing on top of a building, taking off with the American flag behind him waving in the breeze.  It's probably the most iconic shot of the movie.

The last:

You may be a goon, but I AM A MAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!

And...done!

And that was the Rocketeer!  Was it a great movie?  No.  But for all its goofy makeup; silly plot; overacting characters (or, in the case of Jennifer Conelly in her second appearance on our little program here, barely acting at all); and special effects cheap even by 1991 standards, it is a fun movie.  This is a movie that makes up for its faults with pure heart, and all it asks of you is to just pull up a chair; sit back; and enjoy a classic pulp comic story full of action, flight, and light romance.  I loved this movie back when I first saw it, and I still recommend it today.

note to people, the same director who directed the rocketeer is directing the new Captain American movie, you know with Disney owning Marvel and all is the Rocketeer owned by Disney? If so a cameo would be awesome, expecially since Rocketeer resembles classic ironman

filming aspect ration really makes a difference...its from an even older movie where she gets attacked by a monkey
(i think i havent watched it all the way through)

The Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas
Streaming: No sources that I can find (Hulu pass expired)

Year: 2000
Rating: PG
Length: 1:31 (91min)
Starring: Stephen Baldwin, Alan Cummings & Joan Collins
Quote
Yabba-dabba-doo! Digital dinosaurs rule the day when Fred (Mark Addy), Barney (Stephen Baldwin), Betty (Jane Krakowski) and Wilma (Kristen Johnston) take Vegas by storm in this prequel that posits their lives before marriage. A staple of the old Hanna-Barbera cartoon series -- The Great Gazoo (Alan Cumming) -- also makes an appearance. Ann-Margret (make that "Margrock") sings the title tune.

This isn't a Rolling Stones Concert..... it's not even a Rock Concert. When I said that I wanted to meet some Rick Stars, this is not what I had in mind.

I'm gonna assume that stand for "Son of a" in regards to the fact that this mocvie is no longer streaming anywhere on the internet.

So if People wanna pull the current winning movie off the poll and watch that instead and second place will go onto next Wed. we can do that too.

We can throw this movie back up when the streaming is found again.
