Do the house sidequest...don't want to spoil it, but buy the house and max out everything inside it to get arguably the best, most satisfying sidequest in any game, period.

Where is it? I've been all over that map & I never ran into that quest.

The house in question is behind the shrine at the village.

I think you guys are over-rating the House sidequest. I completed that very early in the game and don't recall it having a very powerful ending. However, it does help open up the Tarrey Town sidequest which is the biggest sidequest in the game. Considering Broodwars reaction to the game so far, I know the house sidequest alone is just going to confuse him as to why people are all positive about and recommending it. Most likely, it will just lead to him gripping about all the farming for resources and requirements he suddenly has to fulfill to power through those sidequests.

Oh. No wonder I never saw it.

As for resource grinding, it's annoying but it's baked into so many of the OTHER sidequests (like the monster merchant, the Ancient gear merchant, & upgrading your outfits) that I just consider it an annoying quirk of the game rather than something to outright rage about. Besides, I grab everything not nailed down already since all your weapons break in a dozen or less hits & you need the resources for cooking anyway.

Grabbing everything is a good strategy. It took me a while to realize that, sure, I may have 30 pieces of item and there are plenty of that item around, so why bother grabbing it, only to find out it could have saved me some time when I encountered a sidequest where 50 were needed. So, by grabbing everything and just stocking up on it all then the later sidequests I've encountered have been no problem to instantly complete.

Yeah when I played, most fetch quests weren't really fetches, because I already had the items!

Link Link, that's the spoiler I was avoiding. Building the house leads to that sidequest, the greatest of all time.

Just do yourself a favor and get an absolute **** ton of wood bundles first (I think you'll end up needing around 100). There's an apple orchard somewhere that will give you a lot - use bombs. If you time them right, you'll get 2 bundles per tree almost every time.

I liked to hit the stables near the bird village. They have a bunch of logs out back.

Same. Everyone once in awhile I'd like to warp back and stock up after doing some adventuring and giving them time to replenish their wood stock. Plus, they've got an axe allowing you to quickly chop some more wood around the stable. (Although bombs can work too.)

Did the house sidequest and...well...I have a place to display the otherwise-useless Champion weapons, I guess. Started the "build a village" sidequest as well. Kind of odd how the game puts heavy emphasis on that one carpenter leaving...

I don't know what you guys are talking about. The Tarrey Town quest was a fun distraction, but I don't feel its conclusion was rewarding at all.

What was rewarding was a quest that you get in Tarrey Town.

The cake being a lie, or something like that.

I solved that one with intuition and found it to be much more rewarding than a town-building fetch quest.

Also, Zelda won Game of the Year. And best direction, and best action/adventure. Mario Odyssey won best family game...every game listed was on Switch.

Yep, the Game Awards lives up to its reputation of celebrating mediocrity.

I'm not sure which irritated me more: Zelda winning "Best Direction" when its critical path is particularly awful...or What Remains of Edith Finch winning Best Narrative over Horizon & Nier.
