TalkBack / Re: Western Boxart for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Revealed
« on: June 04, 2013, 08:44:46 PM »
I know you just didn't slam the iconic box art for Super Mario Bros. 3, the box art millions of people associate with their most cherished childhood memories...

2
Who would be crazy enough to pay more for a physical version of the game two months after the DLC that's ten dollar cheaper?

*I WOOOOOOOOOOOOOULD!* /jazzhands

I totally dig that green box.

3
Well, it looks much better than that dreadful trailer that popped up a few years back...

4
See, Electronic Arts, this is what happens when you actually put some effort into your titles.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Injustice DLC Expected This Summer

The cancellation announcement is coming this summer I think is what they mean...

"We regret to announce that we will be cancelling DLC for the Wii U version of our game due to lack of DLC sales on the Wii U version of our game."

It's great that the content will be coming "eventually", but I still don't understand the delay. The only logical excuse I can think of is some "super exclusive Nintendo only" DLC that hasn't been announced yet... maybe there'll be DLC that puts a Luigi hat on all the characters?

Or... dare I dream... Nondescript Action Figure?

I bought this, knowing it was going to be an overpriced novelity...

But I have high hopes for a Dinosaur Office RPG!

- Craig uses Casual Indifference!
- It's super-effective!

I would SO buy that. Not so much this... I mean, it doesn't seem bad for what it is, a decent "runner" game, but it seems priced too high. If it was under the $2 mark, I'd probably snag it for a few minutes of laughs.

TalkBack / Re: DLC for Injustice on Wii U Looking Very Unlikely
« on: May 07, 2013, 08:53:52 PM »
does nintendo release DLC on the eshop only on thursdays? I think we should give them some slack until then...

Even if the Wii U DLC does come out on Thursday, it is very odd that they would say absolutely nothing about it when questioned. They could avoid the drama by just saying "It's coming out on Thursday, it's all good!" The fact they're saying "There is no announcement regarding DLC" (and the rather pissy attitude the official twitter takes towards any questions regarding any Wii U DLC) is pretty indicative of what they think of the Wii U user base. Which is basically a big "F**K YOU" middle finger to those who dared to purchase Nintendo's latest console.

I'm not an expert on game programming or how DLC works, but if the Wii U version is simply a port of the PS3/360 versions (and I'd bet money that it is), wouldn't it have taken MORE effort to remove any DLC hooks and programming than it would be to leave it in? (In fact, I wonder if this is also on-disc DLC, much like Marvel Vs. Capcom 3) It seems like they're going to as much trouble as possible to half-ass the Wii U version of the game. They're literally leaving money on the table here, it seems, just to spite Nintendo owners. "Thanks for buying our game! Unless you're a Wii U owner. In which case, go f**k yourselves!"

Seriously though, first EA and now Warner Bros.? Did Iwata run over western development's collective dog or something? Jebus.

*gasp*

Okay, done with that rant.

I honestly have no interest in the game, since I dislike fighting games, but if I picked up the game for my Wii U, with the promise of DLC RIGHT ON THE BOX, I'd be pretty annoyed. Owners of the Wii U version should write to Warner Bros. I mean, I honestly can't think of a good logical reason why they wouldn't *offer* DLC. They're literally leaving money on the table here.

So people just over-reacted for no reason.

Over-reaction on the internet? Surely you jest.

Ian and Brood think something Nintendo is doing is a terrible idea and will lead to the complete failure of the company.

In other news, water is wet

Perception is key.

When the mainstream load up yahoos main page and see "sony and microsoft unveil the next generation" thats what perception they will have. It will devalue nintendo.

As a hardcore nintendo fan im happy with nintendo directs which cut out all the mumbo jumbo, but as to the success of nintendo, i want to see them pull every stop to get the message of the wii u out there.

E3 would have been key in rebranding the wiiu to make it relevant to the rest  of the population.

Sad to see this announcement

The mainstream "devalued" Nintendo a long time ago. Their loss.

Since most coverage of E3 over the past few years has been devolved into "Which Company Won/Lost E3" pissing matches, I'm surprised Nintendo didn't do this sooner.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Announced
« on: April 23, 2013, 08:38:42 PM »
What a pathetic lineup, though I expected no less from Nintendo of America, who wouldn't know what to do if they didn't set the lowest possible expectations to ensure they'd exceed them.  Here's to a handful of actual new VC games scattered amongst the trick of old VC releases over the next 2-3 years, if the Wii U even lasts that long.

what a disgrace!!  :@ :@ :@ :@ . I don't see why a huge collection of games is not available. Like 50+
How much work is it really?

This line-up is pure trash! If you've owned a Wii U since launch than you already own 4 of these games. They're repeating the same mistake with this virtual console as they did with the Wii. Lackluster titles, trickle outs and nonsense.

For shame Iwata... for shame

^ but iwata is everything that that is bad about nintendo, he killed every good series and never makes new stuff why would you quote him

Back on topic, Zach, I'm curious to know your opinion of Super Castlevania 4, which is kind of a remake of the original game.

Blasphemy. Mewtwo is fine just the way he is. My bet is that this is a genuine evolution of mew, rather than another form of mewtwo.

(which is still unacceptable)

A Pokemon that evolves???

To be fair, the number of GBC games and Game Gear games that could be added (meaning not licensed, and the companies that own the rights are still around) is not huge.

To be even fair-er, the number of *GOOD* GBC and GG games to release is even less huge.

I'm honestly perplexed by the amount of people who have complained about "the waggle". I did have trouble with it for the first couple of levels, but by the end of the first world it was second nature. It's no more troublesome than the "waggle" used for the spin jump in NSMBWii, which give you a little bit of extra airtime in your jump; I got used to that. So much so when I jumped back to the first game on the DS after an extended NSMBW playtime, I found myself shaking the DS in order to get some extra hangtime!

I dunno if I'll pick up the port or not; I played the original to 100% completion (though I wasn't insane enough to play thru the game in mirror mode). If there's an extra mode or new levels tossed in, I'll check it out.

still far too slow, but a BIG and very important improvement and step in the right direction.

If six seconds is too slow for you, you would've never survived the Sega CD era.

Why would you use classic controller when you can use gsmepad or wiimote?

Because that wouldn't give him something to bitch about. ;)

Odd that the Wii U is having so much trouble with load times, since Nintendo consoles usually feature near non-existent load times. Perhaps the upcoming system update will help things.

Load times or not, this game looks like an absolute blast. Looking forward to it.

With the gradual demise of the game manual, I've started turning to strategy guides to fill the void, since many of them have official art that would otherwise go unseen, and plot and character profiles to boot.

24
I guess shantae 3ds game is now vapor ware .  :(

Uh, Matt Bozon, the creator of Shantae, isn't on that list, so I'm pretty sure the game is still coming.

Reminds me, I still have to finish Risky's Revenge... stupid maze.

Somehow, someway, people will find a way to blame Reggie for this.
