Title: 3DS demos on the way!

Pretty sweet news: 3DS is apparently going to get a RE:Revelations demo downloadable through the eShop. Hard to say what type of limitations it might have, but this definitely bodes well for the future of demos on Nintendo platforms.

Anyone interested? I've been trying to avoid any videos/impressions so far to keep the game unspoiled, but a playable demo is awfully tempting...

That is pretty cool!

although i have to say i'm still bitter about a certain OTHER demo/prototype that was cancelled by Capcom

I feel your pain, finchiekins. I was really looking forward to that game, too. Really is a shame. :/

I don't know... if I was releasing a demo then I'd want it to be pretty close to the game release so that people who enjoy the demo are still "fresh" and ready to buy. Releasing it too far in advance is good for the core audience who are really excited about the game, but those people don't really need to be convinced either.

Regardless of when it happens, this is a very exciting precedent being set on 3DS.

Europe and North America can both expect to see demos rolling out tomorrow, headlined by Resident Evil. Sweet! The best part? NoA actually made the effort to inform their customers with a press release instead of just hoping that people find out on their own. Effort: it helps!

Does the RE demo work with the CPP?

because I would like ot test mine out with a game that actually uses it.

I tried the RE demo, it was pretty sweet, beat it in like ten minutes, but its a great way to see what the game offers, the game looks impressive and plays really good too.

I was also very impressed with the graphics, and don't really think the circle pad pro attachment will add anything to the game - it controlled really well already. Or at least as well as you expect a Resident Evil game to control.
 ;)

Not a huge demo, but enough to convince me that pre-ordering was a good move. Can't wait to play through the actual game.

The RE demo was pretty nice.   While I am not going to get it at release, it pretty much cemented me getting it at some point.

Funny how I totally went old person while playing it..  Switched to first person and was looking around.  Thinking how far games have come.  Thinking how I can see the detail on the face of the clock setting on a dresser, and I am carrying this game around in my pocket.  When I think about all the progression games have made since playing my atari and nes with my father and sister..  Sometimes it just blows my mind.

i was probably going to get it eventually, but having a chance to try out the controls and game play makes me want it much sooner. I haven't played Mercenaries 3DS so this is my first RE experience on the 3DS and I can't really compare them.

So far I've only played through once and made it through. At first I kept wanting to hit the left trigger to go into aim mode instead of the right in case I needed to use the touch screen with my right hand. I was kind of expecting to use the touch screen to shoot, but the controls work pretty well. I was looking for a health gauge other than blood on the screen and a way to see healing items but I'll need to play again and take a better look at the menus.

Yay for demos! I liked the DS demo station off of the Wii's Nintendo Channel but now that we have the eShop, it is such a more efficient method of delivering demos.

There is an option for it in the menu, so I believe that it does.

I just swapped my SD card for an 8GB so that I have room to actually download it.

I'll try it out tomorrow.

Hah, that's what I had to do, BnM. I purchased a 16GB SD from Best Buy yesterday just to prepare myself for the onslaught of 3DS demo goodness and other such things. The RE demo plays great, though!

Also, BnM, how do you already have a CPP? And where can I get it, too?!

My girl got it for me for Xmas. She thought it was a battery expansion pack.

No idea where she got it from. Box had Japanese writing all over it though. So I'm guessing she imported it.

The latest demo released today: Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Have to say, I'm a bit interested in it now.

All the Mario and Sonic demo did was reinstate my thoughts about not to get the game.

I still need to try out RE demo, have it downloaded, but just keep on playing Pushmo.

I liked the first Mario and SOnic Olympics game, but I think I'd rather stick to it with the Wii.

I forgot about the creepy London Olympics mascot...

It was pretty simple, but I could see the game being a fun distraction when you want something easy to play (especially multiplayer could be fun). Each game demonstrated a different control scheme, which was cool, and it made use of a lot of the various functions of the 3DS including the gyro.

I'm excited about this one.

MGS is a game that had me kind of excited until hearing about serious control issues. Between that concern and a love/hate situation with the series in general I'm really not sure if this is a game I'll want or not... hopefully the demo helps me decide.

The controls for MGS feel all weird. It works, but smooth is not a word I would use.

Still haven't tried the MGS demo as RE:Revelations and Zen Pinball have taken all of my gaming time.

However, my daughter has tried the Nintendogs demo (with help from parents) and loves it.  My wife is actually suggesting we should get the game if we can find it for $20-30.... so even though the game isn't my cup of tea, I guess the demo did it's job.

Jeez, my daughter LOVES that demo, and she has 5 uses left before it locks.   But FYI, it is going for $20 on Amazon right now, and if you want a used copy, there are sellers on Amazon who are letting it go for even less.

Unfortunately there are no good sales in Canada right now.  I know it's cheap in the US, but by the time I pay to get a copy shipped here that discount disappears.  Sadly there are many games (Wii and 3DS) that I want in the same position.  C'est la vie!

Edit: It's not all bad though. I've got a line on a possible trade that would get me a copy of Nintendogs and save me money.  *fingers crossed*

This week's demo is for Crush3D, which makes it the first demo for something I was interested in, but not sure of, the perfect kind of game for a demo.
