TalkBack / Re: Miyamoto Wants to See Metroid and Star Fox on Wii U
« on: July 09, 2012, 10:34:08 PM »
@Ian Sane.
I seriously disagree with your statement.  What is casual about Super Mario Galaxy or New Super Mario bros. for that matter?  Only Mario I can call casual is Mario Kart, and that's mostly made by Hideki Konno.  Hell, StarFox is diffucult as hell.
And Zelda is dark(Twilight princess, Majora's Mask, OTT ), serious, has a deeper story than Metroid(God that timeline is  complex) and most importantly, hardcore.  It's just that some of the graphics are simlified which makes some of the games look kiddy at first glance.
Nintendo games just aren't needlessly violent or over dosed with melodrama.   They just try to appeal to a wide demographic.

I completely agree. But unfortunately that is not the opinion of a lot of people out there. I just wish I could convince some of my friends that because I play Zelda I am not a hardcore gamer...

Until the demo I haven't really given this game much consideration. But I usually play any new demos on the eshop so I decided to give it a try. Let me just say I am glad that I did! After giving this demo more time than any other currently available on the 3DS, I can confidently say that this game game is going to be excellent. The thing that really struck me about the game is that it is very charming. The only fault I see is the repetitiveness that Khushrenada mentioned.

I was hoping for a sequel to partners in time instead

I was as well. I am a pretty big fan of the Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story. Although a unique 3D platformer of the 3DS sounds awesome. I just can't wait to hear more about it.

I just bought and downloaded Resident Evil 4 for $19.99 for Xbox 360. This is my first time with the game, as I was too young for such a game when it came out. So far I am loving it!

I think I might pick this game up now. Never had a reason to before, doesn't really seem like my type of game, but now I might give it a shot. You never know, it could grow on me.

Is the 3DS version significantly better than the Steam version though?

My brother always drove in DD and I was the back-seat player. It takes real finesse to do a side-attack at just the right moment to avoid item attacks or help with turns.

That's exactly how it was with me and my brother!

Am I also the only one who liked Double Dash more than MK64?  Adrock mentions the infuriating AI, yet I found it the best of all the Mario Karts and much less infuriating than the 64 AI.  Am I the only one who enjoyed playing Double Dash?  It was so smooth and easy to feel the game.  The only MK that comes close is the DS version.

I completely agree! I often feel like I am the only person who values Double Dash above every other Mario Kart. Maybe it's just me, but I had no problem with the AI in the game. The idea of two players teaming up in one kart really excited me, even if the person in the back could only throw items. I would actually like them to bring the mechanic to the next MK, even though I doubt that would ever happen.

I chose Rouge Leader. My predictions is that it will get second to Wario Land 4, but I don't really care. Rouge Leader is the only one of those that I own though, so I hope that I am wrong.

I would have to go with the Gamecube. It had a lot more third party support worth playing, and that is yhe main reason I give it the edge over the N64. In terms of first party support, I would say the Gamecube is also better in my opinion. Of course the N64 had better Mario and perfect Zelda titles, but other than that, most other franchises had better appearances on the Cube to me. With Double Dash, both Metroid Primes, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros. Melee, both Pikmin, Wind Waker, and Sunshine to name the best, I think I'm going to go play my Gamecube now.  :D

All I can say is that they better not screw up the game. What Namco characters would fit best though?

Same here, I also own a black Gamecube. I still play on that system a lot actually. I know I could play Cube games on the Wii, but I will always prefer the Gamecube.

I completely agree with the number 1 choice for your list, the Gamecube is my favorite system.

Pandora's Tower would be awesome.Right now I'm just hoping for something new, or at least an Animal Crossing release date in America for the holiday season.

Maybe I exaggerated a bit. If I am given the choice, I always choose retail, but I sometimes also play download-only games.

I love this game! I have friends that bought the game at launch and recommended it to me. However, I didn't get it because I was generally disappointed with Civ IV. Some people might think I am crazy, but I just did not like that game. However, a couple months ago I was with them and they forced me to play a hotseat game with them. Those games are incredibly slow, but nevertheless, I starting loving this game. I bought it a couple of weeks ago, when they had a Steam deal that allowed be to buy the game and all the DLC for twelve bucks.

After playing the game a lot, I preordered the DLC, which comes out tomorrow! I am really sad that I have to work tomorrow, but I know what I will be doing when I come home. I am most looking forward to the Ethiopian Civilization since I like small, focused empires. All the other additions look awesome as well.

My older brother is salivating at this game. I hope NSMB2 isn't just going through the motions!

Honestly I don't think that it will be. I think we all should trust Nintendo to make a fun and interesting Mario Platformer. We'll see when the game comes out, but I know that I will be spending a lot of time with this game.

I'm also still not warmed up to the digital download of retail games thing. I know it's a great option, but I am still going to want to go to the store and buy the physical copy. For some reason having a physical copy of any game is a lot better than a digital download.

TalkBack / Re: Retro Studios Not Working on Wii U Zelda Title
« on: June 13, 2012, 10:52:44 AM »

Yes, I would love to see Retro create something new. I have complete faith in them to create something fresh and exciting that would really attract people to the Wii U.

And that kind of thinking is why the Japanese game industry is in decline.  Nintendo's free to make an awe-inspiring Zelda title that feels fresh and original, but they haven't managed that since Wind Waker so I won't hold my breath.  I'd like to see what a developer outside the Zelda Team's echo chamber could bring to the series, and at this point I wonder if that would have to be a Western developer like Retro.

I don't know about you guys, but I thought that Skyward Sword felt like a very fresh Zelda game.

TalkBack / Re: 3DS Successor, Not Revision
« on: June 13, 2012, 10:45:25 AM »
If they even had a revision to the 3DS, it would definitely be larger. I think it would be a mistake for them to make it smaller anyway. I'm also glad that they are not making any revisions, because I was sick of having to buy so many revisions to the DS.

TalkBack / Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops II Coming to Wii U
« on: June 12, 2012, 04:52:44 PM »
It certainly is great that we will be getting Black Ops 2, but I just hope that it will be made the definitive version. Hopefully the Wii U will make online play easy and fast to do. Not saying that I am necessarily excited for the game, but think of how many people the Wii U could attract if we have the best version of a CoD game!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Zombi U, I'm warming up to it
« on: June 11, 2012, 05:39:46 PM »
When I first saw this game, I was unimpressed to be honest. However, now this is one of the reasons I am buying the system day one. The aspect that appeals to me the most is the multiplayer. Having one person being the zombie master and one being the survivor is a fantastic idea. I can already imagine the great times I am going to have playing this mode with my friends!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: What are your three favorite 3DS games and why?
« on: June 10, 2012, 08:59:54 AM »
1. Ocarina of Time 3D- There is not much to say here. It is a remake of my second favorite game of all time, and it translates very well to the 3DS. With greatly improved graphics, boss mode, and the inclusion of Master Quest, this is a must have for any 3DS owners.

2. Super Mario 3D Land- This game has become my third favorite Mario game, behind only the Galaxy series. It includes 16 worlds, lots of secrets, and the only really essential implementation of the 3D. What's not to love?

3. Mario Kart 7- This is certainly not the best in the Mario Kart series, but the fact that the multiplayer is well done made me love this game. It is the best part of the game, but the awesome new items and well designed tracks don't hurt either.

Note: This list is subject to change because today I am finally getting Resident Evil: Revelations. :D

TalkBack / Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Impressions
« on: June 09, 2012, 10:42:23 PM »
I agree. I am somewhat more excited for New Super Mario Bros. 2 than U. The coin idea actually sounds interesting to me. If they make it competitive to see who can collect the most coins, then I'm definitely going to buy or download this title. I also think that the New Super Mario Bros. series is better suited for being a handheld game, although that is just my opinion.
