Hey everybody, Sega's The Conduit arrives Tuesday, June 23. Maxi requested that we have an "unofficial" Wi-Fi night for it right off the bat, which I think is a great idea. Here's the info:
Date - Wednesday, June 24 Time - 3pm Pacific/6pm Eastern End - When the last body drops
If there's any more info to add (like if we can make a specific game room to join) I'll post it here.

Thanks again Lindy. If the time isn't ok with everyone that plans on getting launch day than we can change it. I plan on playing it for the whole night so if you are late for the start you will have someone to play. I'll be on as Maxi.

What I would ideally like are weekly days for the biggest games, if somebody wants to organize them. Nothing too time-intensive, just being online with the game that night each week.
For example, Maxi could say "I will be on playing The Conduit every Wednesday night at 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern".
That way you know there will always be a game going on and we can get a little schedule going that people can plan around.

Hmm good question. If we go with team matches than that can be an asset for a team but we need at least 2 people with it. One on both teams.
OK I want to know who has Wii Speak and is going to be able to participate for this. If we don't have enough Wii Speak users that I say we go with out Wii Speak.
I will keep a total in this post of who has Wii Speak and can participate.

I'm just concerned this last minute Conduit thing will suck the wind out of the real Wi-Fi night. BWii deserves it's moment to shine. Enough people have been waiting for a BWii night that it might be a diservice to them to make it get lost in a Conduit shuffle.

Ok it has come to my attention that I am going to have my birthday party tomorrow. It will probably be getting the game in the morning.Then hop on here to do the Wi-Fi day. Then go to my party at 6:00 or 6:30 pm PST. If I can get the game early I can probably play till 5:00 pm PST.

Were you one of those players that enjoyed spinning the C-stick camera around the boat in Wind Waker at hurricane speeds? I liked doing that when other people were watching.

They have movement profiles in the game, I think Drudge was supposed to be smoother. Hyper human is default.

Note: The control option with Nunchuk turning is terrible.
And Wii Speak is a mess, but a humorous echoing mess.
FYI, if you hear random conversations from my Wii Speak it's because I have two friends over right now and we're alternating playing it. I'll be on til close to 10 EST at the latest.

I think we need to calibrate our WiiSpeak settings. Since it seems we're not playing much anymore I will probably try and calibrate it. I can't hear half of what people are saying.
I think I'll play some general matches for a bit to get better adjusted to the game.

Everyone who uses Wii Speak needs to use it like Statos. Use headphones then wrap the Wii Speak around your headphones to make it a "headset". It sounded clear and none of the feedback and repeating through the speakers.

I got initialy turned off to it because when I first played it that was the only thing getting selected in the free matches and it took me two games to figure out you only want to kill the taget guy. I lead those matches for kills, but they were not score earning kills.

It was fun. You are pretty darn good. I didn't really start to compete with you until the last few missions. Though I seem to be pretty stellar at ASE Football. I always did pretty good at those game modes in Halo 2 and Perfect Dark.

No, actually. I never got around to picking them up (much to my guilt ridden disappointment). By the time I had money to pick one up I felt it was so close to Conduit day that I should just wait. But I think my PC FPS experience plus Metroid Prime 3 and Onslaught helped me get a leg up on the pile. Onslaught even had a nunchuck grenade throwing feature. Though I had trouble getting used to not shaking my Wiimote to reload like Onslaught. I still can't get a grip on the melee attack. I always miss and get disoriented.

Never played either one. Only Metriod Prime 3. I do mainly play PC shooters with mouse and keyboard. I mean I play duel analog but if I can get something on PC I usually do.
I was laughing so hard when you and Lindy where going "DAMN YOU KRAKEN" like every 5 seconds! I thought it was funny when Lindy said "Its good he can't talk smack to us" or somthing like that. I did have morse code at the end though. "Blink twice if you can hear me." You started getting better but I was tired by the end! I was like "Its 3am! Crap I have to wake up tomorrow morning!" I will get a Wii Speak soon. Soonest probobly is in a week when I get paid.

Also, if you are having WiiSpeak issues, Lindy, try playing the game on headphones. I found that a lot of the extra noise is canceled that way. It made it feel a little like podcasting actually. And if I felt I wasn't getting picked up properly by the mic I brought it close to me and at one point even stung the mic from my headphones so it was right on my face. Pretty crazy.
I would venture to guess that moving the mic away from the TV in general would fix the issues as opposed to headphones.

Those Drudge charging guns are the worst culprits because they just cause static to flood the mics. And that is almost all that people use on that setup.

Yeah, everyone was sleeping in my house so I was trying to be quiet. You are a good challenge. I so wanted to chatter but I have a fairly deep and loud voice and if i remove the bass in it the mic tends to not be able to pick it up.
It's funny, you can watch people's skills decline across multiple matches. There was this one guy, Jim -I called him Jim the Alien since he played as one of the bugs- he was unstoppable early on. I think you joined part way through his reign as well. But in some of his later matches he was obviously losing his edge because I started killing him constantly. He then quit.
I think people's wrists get tired from aiming the Wiimote and using it for melee attacks and that impacts their performance over a long stretch of matches. I know mine was hurting last night. Course I also played several hours of BWii that day as well so I guess my wrist was boud to start getting tired.

I totally agree. I remember Rize getting eviscerated for stating this as one of the things he didn't like about Wii's controller setup, and I have to agree with him. I finished off the single-player campaign this morning, which required me to sit there and play for four hours straight. By the end my right wrist was killing me. Most genres don't require you to hold the Wii and Nunchuk suspended in the air for prolonged periods of time, but first-person shooters are the exception. I couldn't rest my wrists on anything either, because responding quickly meant that I had to have my forearms free to move them around.
I still prefer dual-analog controal to both mouse and Wii motion controls. It's not as responsive/accurate, but it's much more comfortable over the long haul.

I rest the wiimote/nunchuck on my legs. I mapped punch to Nunchuck and grenade to +. The only motion to the wiimote is the ASE.

Actually, now that you mention it, I think i do that instinctively as well. I find it is easier to rest it when your sensor bar is above the TV. If it is below the TV you tend to cut off the IR signal with your knees and legs.

Is anybody else having problems with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection tonight? My connection is borked. The game either freezes up during player adding (after which I get dropped into a game frozen), or I can't connect at all.

Actually, Jonny was really hard to hear until the end when he spoke right into it. I think there are way too many ambient noises. I'm going to try turning off the echo blocking since I use headphones most of the time anyway.

Oops, I kind of left the game running online when I went to make food and do some other things. I have to take a shower as well. Our cat has ear mites and I have to wrestle him to the ground and get medicine in his ear. That leaves me cut and hairy and sometimes covered in medicine so I like to take a shower afterwards.

I like SCARs.
The Near/Far is my favorite set because SCAR and the shotgun are my favorite weapons in the game.
Trust is my least favorite set because there is no SCAR :(

You have to practice with it. I've probably spent more time than I care playing team marathon matches on the streets with this gun being a primary weapon and being outnumbered by the other team and all of them better at it than I and my noob comrades. That's how I got good with it. Playing sniper wars between the two buildings.

Awesome. Looking forward to it. I hope that solves your turning issues. I know when I do melee attacks I tend to lose the IR connection with the sensor if I am not careful, making turning not work in intense situations (like Kraken being a booger and chasing me around trying to melee me to death and I can't turn fast enough to catch him :P) :D

Not this last play session but the one earlier today I heard someone say "Is kraken a FPS bot?" I laughed so hard!

So I just got the first gold ranking. Very pleased with myself. I totally ran circles around that punchout guy. We got a quickmatch with my oh so favorite near/far combo and he's a tough guy up close, but he has a serious weakness to ranged adversaries. And that poor darkstar guy was a trooper enough to stick around while we duked it out. I commend him for not backing down from a fight when crazy veterans are in a battle. And he got a couple good kills on both of us in the process.
I think I'm done for the night though, and judging from the online list in-game, so is everyone else. See you tomorrow. :)

Give yourself more credit. You are getting better. Your kill scores are getting higher and you are becoming a bigger threat. Though I am impressed also with how you put up with it. Kraken and I can walk all over you and you don't lose your temper. I respect you for that. It is hard to do in my opinion.

Yeah, I think we're all getting better as we keep playing. Unfortunately that includes Kraken thus making him even harder to beat than when we first got the game.
Though I do owe him a thanks. Saw that pic of how he holds his remote & nunchuck & did the same. Noticed my aim has gotten a little steadier ever since.

Yes you can use lock on in Multiplayer.
The Shotgun and rocket launcher are pretty much a good way of getting kills easily.

Start a new thread in the smacktalk section and arrange a time and date. That may get enough attention. Perhaps we could get the admin guys to post an announcement on the front page. Make it another unofficial Wi-Fi night. That will get peoples attention. Half the people on the boards don't really use this thread anyways.
