Title: Anyone ever customize a 'Cube?
Post by: UncleBob on October 15, 2008, 12:50:43 AM
I picked up a GameBoy Player from eBay super-cheap because it was missing the start-up disc.

I want to try and paint it to match the Indigo color of my Indigo GameCube.

Has anyone ever painted a GameCube?  Have you any suggestions on what kinds of paint to use/how to go about it?

Don't use paint, use vinyl dye - not vinyl coating (Auto Zone, and some Wal-Mart stores...hey don't you work...). You can buy it online, though usually it's kind of expensive, but it is unquestionably the best, and easiest, way to "paint" any console. It actually dyes the plastic, instead of just covering it, with no need for priming, sanding, or a clear coat. Just clean the surface thoroughly, and spaay a few thin layers (according to the directions) and be done.

I used nail polish remover on a Dreamcast and it turned the system from white to brown. I hung it me wall I did I did.

Just paint it with yogurt.

This sounds like the best idea, but will it be possible for me to purchase a can of this that matches "GameCube Indigo Purple"?

And will it be less than the price of just importing an Indigo Game Boy Player?

You could always paint both to make sure they match.

Use the removable ethernet flap for paint testing/comparison.
