The Rules Of The Game

What is the purpose of the game?

If you are on the townie side, you want to vote out all those on the mafia side and the killer.

If you are on the mafia side, you want to vote out all those on the townie side and the killer.
 
If you are the killer, you want to vote out all other players.

How do I vote? What is involved?

Each day all players are allowed to vote for whomever they believe is mafia.  Since all roles remain anonymous, mafia members will vote along with the townies.

Each day a new thread will be made and will open up with a narrative.  Each player then has the chance to vote off another player.  Simply type in BOLD for whom ever you wish to vote against. Example: Vote Khushrenada. Although, that's a bad example. You'd never want to actually vote for me.
 
 
You may change your vote as much as you like, but any old votes must remain legible.  Simply edit the post, unbold the vote, and make a new post with the new vote. So, you're old vote should look something like this: un-Vote Khushrenada. That is a much better example of how to play the game.

What is a mafia hit?

Since the mafia is a small group of players, the mafia are able to make one hit every night and eliminate a player from the game. These are not based on calendar numbers, but rather on game days.  The only one who may contact the host with the kill is the Godfather.
 
In addition, the Killer also is able to make a hit each night of their own choosing.

How is a winner determined?

For the townies to win, they need to eliminate all mafia members and the killer from the game.

For the mafia to win, they only need to tie the game. I.E., there are two townies left and two mafia members left. However, they must also eliminate the killer role as well. They can not win by a tie if one of the other roles is the killer.
 
The killer wins either by eliminating all other players so that they are the only player left in the game or it is the killer and 1 townie left standing at the end. The killer must eliminate all mafia members.

What happens if the vote is a tie?

In the event of a tied vote, there will be an overtime, sudden death voting period of 30 minutes.  The only vote that may be cast is for one of the players who were tied at the end of voting.

As soon as a vote is cast that breaks the tie, the day vote is immediately ended and the player with the majority is eliminated regardless of how much time is left in the sudden death period. The vote that is cast can either be from a player that hasn't voted yet that day or from a player changing his vote from earlier in the day.

If the tie is unresolved after 30 minutes, then the vote is nullified and both players will live to see another day.

Roles

Mafia:

Dark Matter. Is not exposed via investigation. Chooses the mafia hit every night. Also, has another choice to make. Each day, Dark Matter can choose to investigate a player or use his eye laser and damage a player's hit meter by 3 points. But he can not do both in the same day.
 
King Dedede. He can either attack someone with his hammer and give them 2 damage points to their hit meters or he can target a player and remove their ability for the rest of the game. But he can not do both on the same day.
 
Meta Knight. He can choose to attack a player with his sword and do 3 points of damage to their hit meter or he can choose to protect any member of his mafia, including himself, from taking any damage from abilities. He can only choose one of these actions per day.
 
Waddle Doo/Waddle Dee. As long as Dark matter lives, Waddle Doo stays powered up. If Dark Matter dies, this player becomes Waddle Dee. As Waddle Doo, he can use your beam power to do 2 damage to any player of his choosing. As Waddle Dee, he can only do 1 point of damage. He can also choose to learn a player's hit meter total and will be updated on that total for as long as he and the players live in the game. Like the others, he can only choose one of these actions per day.

Townie:

Kirby. Everyday, Kirby chooses a number from the hidden ability board and then must choose whether he wants to take what he has chosen or keep what he already has. If he declines an ability/item or throws aways what he has for a new one, that item/ability can not be chosen again for the rest of the game. When Kirby has no abilities, he can still do a damage of 1 to any player of his choosing each day by blowing out a concentrated puff of air.
 
Dreamland Citizen. Each Dreamland citizen has his own power chosen at random from the list of abilities below.
 
Other:

Marx. This is the killer role. He gets to make a hit each night against any player of his choosing. As a bonus, any player he eliminates, he gets whatever ability/item they have and can use it for the rest of the game unless there is a limitation to it.
 
Abilities

                  
Beam/Hammer/Bomb/Fire - Each of these abilities allows the user 2 damage points against any player of their choosing each day.
 
 
      
Sword/Laser/Yo-Yo - Each of these abilities allows the user 3 damage points against any player of their choosing each day.
 
 
 
Cutter - This player has 3 throwing blades worth 1 damage point each. He can choose to target one player with them or spread out the damage. He can throw all 3 each day.
 
 
 
Ninja - This player has 2 ninja throwing stars worth 2 damage points each. He can choose to target one player with them or spread out the damage. He can throw both of them each day.
 
 

Magic - This ability is worth 1-3 damage points against any player of the user's choosing. Every day, the damage amount will be randomly chosen. That's the problem with magic. The player can only attack once every day.
 
 

Ice - This ablility allows the user 2 damage points against any player of their choosing each day. In addition, that chosen player's vote is nullified and not counted at the end of the vote tally.
 
 

Fighter - This allows the user 2 damage points against any player of their choosing each day. In addition, they are so stunned from the beating, they can not use their ability that day.
 
 

Stone - This ability protects the user's hit points from any other player's ability attack against him. However, if King Dedede stole his ability, it would not protect from that. Other exceptions will be mentioned in the Tricky Situation part of the rules.
 
 

Plasma - If used every day, it is worth 1 damage point against the user's chosen victim. But if the user decides to store up power, the damage will increase every day by 2. So, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16. You get the idea. Once the user has attacked somebody, the counter will start up again the next day.
 
 

Mirror - The user can target any player of their choosing and give them a damage of 1 to their hit points every day. The real benefit from the mirror ability comes from the fact that anyone who uses an ability on this player ends up taking the same amount of damage themselves. Although the Mirror user still suffers the damage also.
 
 

Needle - Same as the Mirror ability except any attacker on the needle user suffers an automatic 4 points of damage themselves. Needle user still suffers the damage given them by the attack.

 

Tornado - This user is able to direct any attack against himself to another player of his choosing. He, in effect, sidesteps the attack and puts someone else in his place.
 
 

X-Ray - This ability allows the player to investigate any player of their choosing and learn their role. The only time it doesn't work is against Dark Matter who will appear innocent.
 
 

Laser - This ability is worth 5 damage points and can be used each day by the owner of it against any player of his choosing.
 
 

Mike - This ability nullifies everyone else's abilities for the day. It does not prevent hits from occuring or stop voting but no other actions will occur that day. It is a one-use only ability.
 
 

Crash - This giant explosion nullifies every vote case that day except for the user of this ability. He can decide the day vote all by himself. It is a one-use only ability.
 
 

Sleep - This is a dud ability. The user has no special powers and any votes with this ability will not count.
 


Gooey - Unique to Kirby. If Kirby chooses and utilizes this ability, one townie will be chosen at random and upgraded to Gooey and both that player and Kirby will learn each other's identities and can work together.

Hit Points

All players have hit points. Some players have higher hit points than others. If your hit points are brought down to 0, you are out of the game. So, there is definitely potential for mass death in this game. I guess we'll see how well I judged the hit point totals for everyone.
 
Hit Points break down like this:
 
Kirby - 20 hit points
Dark Matter - 15 hit points
Marx - 14 hit points
King Dedede/Meta Knight - 12 hit points
All other players - 10 points.
 
In addition, getting voted out on any day is considered 10 damage plus the number of votes cast against the player that day. So, there is a chance some players could survive a vote out. As well, a hit is considered 12 points damage against a player.
 
Items

What are they?
 
Lollipop - Invincibility. When Kirby gets on a sugar high, there is no stopping him. Or you. If you select this item, you are immune from the day vote, night hits and all players abilities. Even the X-Ray can not investigate you. But it is for one day only. No players will be notified if someone has the Lollipop except the actual owner so feel free to lie about it if you want.
 
Maxim Tomato - Fully replenish your hit meter no matter how much or little damage.
 
Turkey- Yummy meat is worth 4 points replenished.
 
Energy Drink - Sweet liquid worth 3 points replenished.
 
Watermelon - Delicious watermelon is worth 2 points replenished.
 
French Fries - Sure they taste great but not really the best energy source. 1 POINT REPLENISH!
 
How are items acquired?
 
Everyday, at the end of the vote, somebody will be voted out unless there is an unresolved tie. The players who cast a vote against the one player who is the majority choice and day vote victim get a chance to gain a replenish item.
 
There will be a choice of 15 doors. The selected players will get a chance to pick one of those numbers. We will go in order of the person who cast the first vote against the voted out player down the timestamps to the last player. Behind five of the doors will be an item. The rest are all duds with nothing.
 
The lollipop item will only appear on odd days like Day 1, 3, etc and the Maxim Tomato will appear on even days like Day 2, 4, etc.
 
All items are applied immediately at the start of the next day. Items can not be held onto. Likewise, one can not pass their item to someone else.

Essentually yes. This can be helpful for both sides.Townies can get a nice bonus if they vote out a Mafia member or a townie. It isn't all bad news if they vote out a townie.The same could be said for the other side of the coin.

I guess that's what it has become. I envisioned people splintering into smaller voting groups to prevent less people from a chance at getting items but it seems to have turned into a free for all in which people view items as the most valuable commodity this game and don't want to lose a chance at them even though the item line is getting way held up.

It's kinda funny how this part of the game has morphed into this greedy cash-in with people then squandering their chance at items by not even showing up to select.

I guess what I should do is just leave the item shop open to anyone who votes and first come, first serve and leave that as the incentive. But part of me loves the gongshow this has become so I don't know if I should change it.

Hmmm. Maybe a poll because those always work.
