Psst. Zach. TVMan's dead! (but he was Mafia, at least)
Oh, and "Goldeen."

Yeah, BnM's got a point...

Pale, is there a reason why you just say "[so-and-so] was killed," and not who killed them (who, as in which group - not a specific character, of course)? I mean, we've got voting each night, the mafia hit that occurs each night, we have at least one mafia assassin (who's now dead!), and we don't know if there's a vigilante role (but he could kill too)... plus with Dash taking people out and even themselves sometimes, it's just confusing to people seeing these things happen and not knowing what's up.

So, is it to protect any secret roles we don't know about yet, or what? Just curious.

From watching the last game from the sidelines, Khush had the wool pulled over my eyes till the last couple rounds. However, I'm willing to give him this one chance this game.

If it pans out... well, we'll see. VOTE CRIMM

"Goldeen Goldeen."

Ooh, hey, didn't get to respond to 18 Days' quote barrage on me yesterday.

"Gold."

You may be reading too much into my posts, sir Hoppip All I know is that Pale said there'd be unique roles, and that we'd just have to trust him. I DON'T think there are multiple detectives (the Mafia folks have enough knowledge – just kill everyone who's not with them – without getting detectives too!)... However, I don't know of there ever having been a "security guard" for the Mafias before, so Couchmonkey's role was kinda new.

"Een."

I'm gonna see how things develop over the day before I cast my vote... I don't know if I trust Khush's allegations... I don't know if I trust ANYBODY. I've got my little list of people I'm suspicious of, people I think are Townies, and people who are dead. After almost every death, i find out that I'm wrong about one thing or another. So... yeah. I'm gonna sit back, drink some water (I'm Goldeen, after all, what else would I drink? ), and see what's up a little later on.

P.S. - Goldeen's pokemon language is remarkably concise, wouldn't you say? English just feels so clumsy and overbearing now!

How 'bout that guy who always used to post using a Homer Simpson avatar? I forgot his name, and he hasn't been around in years...

Where'd you get this? Evidence, Khush, evidence.

Your very pokexistence may hang in the balance.

Hey, here's a weird thought... We know there are unusual roles in this game. Do you think any of them restrict when or how often that player can post? (Like Slaking or whatever pokemon that is who can only attack every other turn or something...)

I don't know if that's a good enough reason to vote for Zach. I was tempted to come to his aid too, because it'd suck to get voted out the first night in 3 out of the last 4 games...

However, I agree with Couchmonkey... Khush is definitely changing his strategy this game. After how active he was last game (because he was Mafia, at least in part), his new absence may mean he's bored being a townie. However HOWEVER... we also know he's a savvy player, and if he's Mafia again, he won't act the same as last time unless he wants a quick vote-out.

Ok, SO... basically we know nothing, and our detective is dead. Yay!

Dang, this takes the wind out of my sails. Was Pryo a Snap hit, then?

crud. Two Pro-townie roles GONE on the FIRST night...

But I don't understand... Pryo was killed by Snap or what? It just says he was killed... kind of mysterious.

This may not mean much, but I'd rather not vote out someone who's been posting, especially at this first throwaway vote where basically everyone except mafia is uninformed. So, I can't bring myself to vote for Stabby.
VOTE NEMY/BULBASAUR (as a perhaps unconventional welcome to the forums and the game)

It's a beautiful day Under the Sea. Goldeen is just swimming around being a powerful water pokemon, when suddenly a large splash breaks the surface of the water, and a rapidly-flashing Voltorb sinks to eye level with our fishy friend. Stevey winks sheepishly then explodes, sending Goldeen and various other sea creatures hundreds of feet into the air and landing them on the beach, where Goldeen flops around irritably.

"Goldeen Goldeen," he laments, then proceeds to UNVOTE MEWTWO/PALE** just to see if he can*.

* If he can't, he will change his vote later on Yes, after watching the last Mafia game, I'm suspicious of EVERYONE.

** And he can't! I wanted to get that out of the way at least. I'll reserve my vote until later today, I think.

1764
Why, Ceric, you make the best lemonade ever!

1765
On a random, unrelated note of little concern... why did no one tell me that Goldeen is used solely by girls in the anime?

Perhaps we are all simply beyond such considerations that they no longer even register as such.

...(but if so, why do my ears burn so painfully when I glance at my poor, girly fish of an avatar?)

1766
Pale, I'm glad that this Mafia is happening now. I narrowly missed registering for the last one, and so I had to sit on the sidelines for the whole time. After it was over, I couldn't wait to find out when the next one would be. If I had to wait any longer... well...

BAD THINGS MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED.

Nice analysis, btw, couchmonkey. I was trying to figure it out myself, but I stopped when I saw that you had basically nailed it.

Have you guys checked out their web site ? Other cool shorts on there... animation, stop-animation, film, illustrations, etc. Great sense of style in all their stuff. And even though they're Spanish, they keep the pieces universal by going non-verbal in most of them.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The Settlers is coming to DS

When I first heard about this, I thought they were talking about Settlers of Catan, so I was a little disappointed. A portable, wi-fi enabled version of Settlers of Catan would be awesome.

Anybody here played it before? It's a board game, but has a Web version too.

On-topic, the more support the better!

1769
Screw it. I know full well that Mafia's a timesink, and I'll likely keep the window open at work and be unproductive, but I DON'T CARE.

I'm in. And I'm Goldeen, or whatever that fish pokemon in SSBM that just flops around and does nothing is called.

However, this is not to be representative of how I will play. I intend to be an active, voteful, productive member of the game, even if it is my first Mafia ever

1770
From what I understand (having talked with a sales person there today), they've pulled a lot of the affected games off the shelf until the sale starts. So I'm just going to go back on the 2nd (or 4th) and see what they've got.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Is jammin w/ the band import friendly

I have to resurrect this old thread to ask a question: why, Why, WHY has this never been released outside of Japan???

I finally gave up hope of this ever being released here in the US, so a friend of mine living in Japan did me a huge favor in tracking down a copy for me. It arrived yesterday, and I'm just amazed. I'm amazed at the gameplay (which is fun, challenging and addictive), amazed at the cheesy-yet-crack-like nature of J-pop, amazed at the prospect of writing music in it later on, and most of all, I'M SIMPLY AMAZED THAT IT'S NEVER BEEN LOCALIZED.

Come ON, what are/were you thinking, NOA? There were some gaming draughts here that this game would have filled perfectly back when it was originally released in Japan. </rant>

Anyways, I'm something of a hobbyist composer, so when I unlock Pro Edit mode, maybe I'll post some original compositions here just for kicks.
