Title: Rick or Anyone, I've got a DOS question

I know this is last minute, so if you are reading this after monday night at midnight, go ahead and erase it...
Basically I'm writing a paper about internet security and what not, and I'd love to get some real world examples in there.... If you aren't too busy and can answer this without risking anything security wise, it would be a great help.
What tactics did you guys take to get passed the Denial of Service attacks from a while ago? I would love to throw a quick paragraph blurb in my paper about what you guys did. Thanks for the help if you have a minute, if not, no harm done.
