wow, getting awesome vibes from this, awesome song!

Seems to be a minigame collection like Project Rub / Feel The Magic, which was AWESOME! I'm excited, hope it's as fun as the song sounds, screens look alright, some fun some dull, hard to tell what's going on. Out in December in Japan. :)

Exactly my impressions. I wonder how sensitive the controls are, it looks pretty promising at this stage though.

Nice observation. I never would have noticed because I still have the page open in my browser from the first post saying 7 and haven't refreshed. :D Still listening to the song.

Maybe we'll get more screens, a new trailer, or a new song!

OK. So why does DK Jungle Beat need waggle controls when you can do it like this ? I really hope Nintendo does another Wario Ware game on Wii.

Research, then post.  Jungle Beat distinguishes between right and left.  Let's Tap apparently is played on a box, with no such distinction.

BUMP

I finally finished my own version of Let's Tap. It took me a minute (bout 5 days). Too bad I don't have japanese singers and or a cool robotic voice I can use....It would have made it so much better.

It also sucks that I don't have a video editor so I can't make a music video. Oh well.

Here's a link if you want to have a listen:

Pray for serenity, then post.  This antagonism is getting really old.  People ask for factual information all the time here.  If you're going to bother answering someone's question, do it without being an asshole.

Wait, how does the remote sense such small vibrations?

The Wii Remote (and Nunchuk) are actually very sensitive.  Most developers have to de-sensitize them in software to avoid picking up "gestures" except when the player makes large, intentional movements.  The exceptions, and good examples of just how sensitive the controllers can be, are tilt-controlled games like Mercury, Monkey Ball, Kororinpa, parts of Wario, etc.

Also, since IGN says you play with the Remote face-down, it may also accept button presses (from the vibration) as a back-up input.  The buttons are very easy to depress when facing down like that.

Nice Stogi, I made my own crappy remix of the song too http://www.sendspace.com/file/7nlq5c since I couldn't get it out of my head.

I actually tried simulating this game and my controller kept sliding off whatever box I used, then I realised the wii remote grip may actually be required to play this. I haven't got one so i'm going to have to find one for this game, I wonder if Nintendo still sends them out down here.

You can play the guitar really well. It's really good.

Unlike you, I wasn't trying to remix it. I was just trying to make something like it.

Do you have the raw recordings? Could I use them to put them over a beat?

I am pretty sure it can sense the right and left direction.  I have no proof but the Wii remotes seem sensitvie enough to pick up this information and the games that are in the video seem to require at least a two directional input.  Why didn't Nintendo do this?  They aren't god and if you remember correctly Sega and the developer of this game were Nintendo's principal competition.

Um, was this aimed at me?

First, I am well aware that "I'm tapping it" means "sex". Its an joke that has attached itself to the game like leeches to a fat guy's body.

Second, when I said that I was NOT talking about sexual connotations in either title. I meant that if a quirky, experimental mini game title like "The Rub Rabbits" made it to the US despite its surreal style then "Let's tap" should be a shoe-in for localization.

Are we clear? If your post was aimed at someone else, ignore this.

Yep, here's a screenshot from the first video showing how it works. The Wiimote is placed horizontally on the "tap pad" or whatever.

It's basically the DK Bongos, which is awesome. Too few games supported them.

oh no, just aimed at everyone. It's just funny that there is even a game called this. I'm all for the confusion and hilarity. I'm from Arizona, I wasn't sure how prevalent the phrase was everywhere else. Also, Tapping wasn't screwing until i was about 18 or 19.

Latest video for Let's Tap! is now up. It's a six minute extended trailer showing off five game modes in detail.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43364.html

So, information gathered from that...

Game Mode #1: Tap Runner
The mode we have been watching so much of in the previous videos. Tap Runner is a racing mini-game where the goal is obviously to reach the finish. There are many different kinds of obstacles in each race that require different rhythms of tapping to overcome. These include hurdles, swinging wires, giant balloons and tightropes. The game supports up the four players on a single screen; if racers start to get far apart, the camera zooms out to compensate but also gives a hologram of the stickperson so you can see their progress more easily.

Game Mode #2: Rhythm Tap
This is a music-based game where, as the name suggests, you must tap to the beat of the song. There are 20 tracks in total on offer and from what we have heard so far, the soundtrack of this whole game will be very funky and catchy. Not only is good timing needed, but also you have to be able to tap with the right amount of force. Blue circles want light tips, green circles mean medium taps and orange circles ask for hard taps. Again, it has four player multiplayer, with each player tapping out different notes in the song.

Game Mode #3: Silent Blocks
Silent Blocks is the more puzzle-oriented game of the selection. A key sits at the top of a tall tower of precarious blocks. Using careful tapping, you choose which block you want to get rid of and then remove it with care. The aim to acquire the key, but you also want to get high scores by stringing together colour combos, or 'Alchemy' as it is called. Four players can compete in this game in a race to collect the key from their tower peak first.

Game Mode#4: Bubble Voyager
In this game, you take control of the Bubble Voyager, who's mission it to complete the levels by avoiding debris and enemies. Tapping will boost you upwards and you may also give more vicious taps to fire missiles. Points are gained for taking as little damage as possible and making a good landing at the end of a stage. The multiplayer portion of this game is quite different - it is a free-for-all battle royale where each player has a Bubble Voyager and has to destory their opponents with rockets.

Game Mode #5: Visualizer
With this mode, there are several sub-modes in which the player taps in various ways to create aesthetic things on screen. Visualizer contains an art canvas, an aquarium, a colourful minigame with marbles and a fireworks show creator.

It's out in Japan on the 18th of December. I'm extremely tempted to import it right now.

Well guys good news, Sega lifted up an embargo and announced that Let's Tap is coming to America.

And a long come the impressions:

Quote from: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=351100
Let’s Tap Comes to America, Brings Amazing Theme Song With It

Here’s the score: Let’s Tap is a four-player mini-game collection with five modes. The entire game is played by placing the Wii remote face down on a cardboard box (or any flat surface really) and tapping on the box. The least game-like of the modes is a visualizer; tap on the box and watch fireworks explode over a weird cityscape or see ripples wave across a pool of water. Silent Blocks is similar to Jenga and Rhthym Tap is not unlike Taiko Drum Master. The meatiest modes of the bunch are Tap Runner and Bubble Voyager. Runner is a sprint-race and obstacle course mode that’s far more visually and aurally appealing than it has any right to be. The trailer above really doesn’t do it justice, there’s just something hypnotic about it. Bubble Voyager is a sidescroller. You tap to keep your titular character – a classic little Naka character if there ever was one – afloat and to avoid obstacles.

I sat in on a demo of the fireworks visualizer, Tap Runner, and Bubble Voyager. The visualizer was certainly attractive, almost like a level of Rez you just float above instead of travel through, but it didn’t look like something you would ever try more than once. Both Tap Runner and Bubble Voyager looked fun, but really must be played with a group to get the most out of.

I’m ecstatic they’re bringing it to America but I’m not sure how successful Let’s Tap will be for Sega. The core gamer market will be interested in Let’s Tap based on Naka’s name alone, but the game is very light on content, not to mention devoid of a significant single player mode. Since Prope and Sega haven’t added any additional modes to the North American version, the game will be an even harder sell if it releases above a budget price. The other hurdle is getting it out to casual gamers and families. The games are simple and I can imagine them being addictive in a group setting, but the game’s abstract visuals just aren’t what the mainstream Wii audience looks for. I’ll be picking it up no matter what, but I’m a videogame fanatic. I’m not sure who else will.
