Title: Mafia XXIX: "It's the Great Pumpkin (Mafia), Charlie Brown" Day 2
Post by: decoyman on October 28, 2008, 12:24:16 AM
As the scene opens, we see Linus sitting at a table writing a letter. Linus writes: "Dear Great Pumpkin, I'm looking forward to your arrival on Halloween night. I hope you will bring me lots of presents." Over comes Charlie Brown.

"Who are you writing to, Linus?"

Linus looks hard at Charlie Brown. "This is the time of year to write to the Great Pumpkin. On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys for all the children."

"You must be crazy. When are you going to stop believing in something that isn't true?" says Charlie Brown in disgust, and walks away.

Only slightly bothered, Linus gets back to writing: "You must get discouraged because more people believe in Santa Claus than in you. Well, let's face it... Santa Claus has had more publicity." At this point, Snoopy comes up to Linus to see what he's up to. Realizing that Linus is writing to the Great Pumpkin again, like every year, Snoopy busts out laughing. I mean, really insulting, demeaning, hurtful laughing. Like, in a really mean way. Linus glowers at Snoopy, who walks away, still laughing. Struggling to control his rising temper, Linus gets back to writing:

Lucy comes over now. "Not again! Writing a letter to a stupid pumpkin!? You make me the laughing stock of the neighborhood. All they talk about is my little brother who always writes to the Great Pumpkin. You better stop it or I'll pound you!"

Scarcely had Linus begun writing again when Charlotte Braun, aka DAaaMan64, comes up to him. Yes, all the way from Europe. "Somehow they're all getting into my house," thinks Linus. "Should change the locks."

"You're wasting your TIME, zee Great Pumpkin eez a FAKE!" says Charlotte, then turns around and stomps away.

Linus' face twitches. He sneers. Watching Charlotte walk away, there is the barely-audible sound of something snapping. It was the pencil Linus had been writing with. Yes, in anger, he had just snapped his pencil in half. But the snapping sound may as well have been Linus' last strand of sanity. With each of Charlotte's receding footfalls, the anger rose up higher within him until he charged after her, grabbed her by the shoulders, and screamed maniacally,

"I'LL MAKE YOU ALL BELIEVE IN THE GREAT PUMPKIN!!! I'LL MAKE YOU BELIEVE, OR YOU'LL PAY!"

Charlotte screamed, but her cry was cut short as Linus, with superhuman strength, picked up Charlotte and shoved her into her own suitcase. He then somehow got to the airport and shipped her back to France, where she arrived safe and sound and lived a long, happy life.

Author's note: Yes, the Mafia hit DAaaMan64, aka Charlotte Braun, a plain ol' townie but no, Linus didn't KILL her - he just took her out of the picture. What did you THINK was going to happen? Peanuts is a family strip, guys, come on.

"Great Pumpkin," shouted Linus, "They don't believe in you! But I do. I DO! And I'll make them believe... I'll make them believe, one way or another!!"

---------------------------------

Slowly, word of Charlotte's forced departure spread among the children of the neighborhood. Charlie Brown, the townie spokesman, stepped up, and said,
Quote
You just want me to run over to kick that football then pull it away to watch me fall on my back and kill myself.

The gang seemed confused, so he followed that up with, "Well, we also need to figure out who's guilty! So we'll vote! Everyone get a piece of paper, and write on it who you think is the one responsible for shipping Charlotte back to France in her suitcase."

Everyone got together and voted. The vote turned out to be for RABicle, who wasn't even around to defend himself. Well, it didn't matter much. They found him, carried him over to the kite-eating tree, and tossed him up there.

"BUT NO!!" RABicle shouted. "I'm Marcie! I'm the townie investigator!" But it was too late. The tree had a firm hold on RAB and wouldn't let go. "Fine. Guess I'll just hang out here the rest of the game."

Up in the tree, RAB found one of Charlie Brown's old kites, and broke it. Out of spite. And anger.

---------------------------------

Elsewhere! Peppermint Patty, the townie vigilante, had just learned that her friend, Marcie, had been thrown up into the kite-eating tree, and she was furious. She wandered down the street and grabbed the first person she could find. It didn't matter that it was Spak-Spang, a random adult from the Peanuts universe. She grabbed him, the poor regular townie, and kicked him so hard in the seat of the pants that he ran home crying, and locked the door.

"Oh," said Peppermint Patty, a little embarrassed. "Chuck's not gonna be happy about that."

---------------------------------

Day 1 Summary
RABicle, aka Marcie the townie investigator, has been voted out.
DAaaMan64, a townie, has been hit by the Mafia.
Spak-Spang, a townie, has been hit by Peppermint Patty, the townie vigilante.

Note: since Peppermint Patty hit an innocent, she will die if she hits another.

No one needs to vote today to survive.

VOTING FOR DAY 2 BEGINS NOW!

In my defense I said I didn't know anything about RAB, and that it was more of a revenge thing.

As far as Spak goes, I've got to say, that's just terrible.

I told you so not to vote RAB! :@ (I'm not even sure how that bandwagon even got started? or what reason people had)

Vote Thatguy's girlfriend: Khush. Khush started the first bandwagon (vote nick) and thatguy started the second (vote Rab) now their trying to kill me! The stooges are in cahoots! Kill them before they turn pumpkin or already mafia! (only mafia member can start bandwagons that easily on day one, it's not fair....)

Wait a sec, I didn't tell everyone to vote for RAB.  I just changed my vote from siding with Khush, to hopping on the (then small) RAB bandwagon.  Besides, there was no way to know the RAB was the investigator.

Alright. I VOTE OOHHBOY. Yes, I know he hasn't he hasn't shown up to play yet and could very well be a townie. Here's the thing, if we leave him be and he never shows up, that's another townie death.

In case people aren't looking at the numbers, with the vigilante's wrong hit yesterday, the mafia can win by the end of tomorrow provided none of them die. It will be a 5-5 tie. This will be a for sure thing if oohhboy doesn't show up since he would automatically be killed by the end of day 3.

Let me put it this way, looking at the last game, you had could have two situations. Vote someone out who may be guilty, have a mafia hit in the night and lost another person through inactivity. Or, you could vote the person out before he dies through inactivity and have a mafia hit. Now you limit the number of deaths, which is to the townie advantage since the mafia wants to eliminate as many people as soon as possible to win.

Moreover, just because oohhboy hasn't shown up yet, doesn't mean he is innocent. We have no proof either way. Last game, Decoyman was eliminated but he wasn't innocent. And in othe games there have been situations where a mafia member didn't show up to play.

I just think this is the smart thing instead of hoping for the best. We need people who will play. The mafia wins when they can keep people who aren't around since they won't know what's happening and they aren't voting which hurts the townies who need to dictate the vote.

Well this is getting awfully sketchy. Let's vote out people because they aren't playing?

Let's look at this from a non-Khush perspective. What's more likey, that Oohhboy is a townie and not playing or that Oohhboy is mafia and not playing? Sure there have been a few instances of mafia members not showing up to play, but in the scheme of things it's just a drop in the ocean to those who have been townies who haven't played.

Khush's logic makes sense, but it's far from reasonable. And to those who just blindly follow anything thatguy or Khush do, I hope they're mafia and I hope you're getting played.

I was actually going to vote Oohhboy yesterday, but I figured I'd at least give him a day to show his face.

The only reason I'm not voting for him now is because it would be an excellent strategy for Lucy to not participate in order to get everyone to vote for her.  ;)

Also I realise that Khush was also arguing that even a townie who isn't playing is a liability to the cause, but I still don't think that's sensible logic to waste a vote on a practiclly confirmed townie.

Non-players have just as likely a chance of being mafia.  The only thing we know for certain is that oohhboy isn't the godfather.  He hasn't signed in, right?

Strike that, he last signed on yesterday:
Quote

That's EST, essentially right after midnight.

Enough time to see his role, or lack thereof.

I do agree that an expiring townie is no good for us, with a tight leash like this.  If it comes down to it, we need to keep him from just dying and causing a player gap.

Dont vote for ooohboy, all mafia members have to send in their actions not just the godfather. If ooohboy is mafia then the only way he could get away not playing is being lucy. More probable is khush is a dirty coward and want's to pick a bandwagon against someone who can't defend himself.

Vote khush or you're a blockhead!

You know, stevey, you are so blinded by your misguided revenge that you continually hurt the townie chances. Good job last game. And I am not a dirty coward since I have to leave and won't be able to defend myself either. You were afraid RAB was the bomber. That's why you didn't vote yesterday. You're just as cowardly. At least I'm still willing to vote.

Gylldas' death scene to read while I'm working on Day 3...:

Sally, Charlie Brown’s little sister, had come over to see what Linus was up to. It was no secret that she kinda had a thing for him. Standing behind a doorway, however, Sally was shocked as she saw a crazy-looking Linus throw Charlotte Braun into her own suitcase and storm out the door.

While she was a little shocked at what he’d done, she couldn’t help but simultaneously admire his determination and gritty spirit. Yes, Sally’s crush was stronger than ever before! She waited until he came back, settled in at the table, and began writing again.

“What are ya doin’, Linus?” Sally asked, innocently.

“I’d rather not say. You might laugh.”

“Oh, I’d NEVER laugh at you, Linus. You’re so intelligent.”

Linus blushed, then fessed up. “I WAS writing a letter to the Great Pumpkin, but now I’m composing a black magic spell, a summoning rite, to call the Great Pumpkin to us. It is a dark magic, this one.”

“You say the cutest things!” Sally said as little hearts floated above her head.

Linus continued, “On Halloween night, we’ll summon the Great Pumpkin, who will rain terror and destruction down upon all the unbelievers around us! Wouldn’t you like to sit with me in the pumpkin patch on Halloween night, and wait for the Great Pumpkin?”

“Oh, I’d love to, Linus!” Sally cozied up next to Linus, happy... and evil.

It was just then that Linus noticed a pair of eyes at the window. It was a dog! “But first, there’s something I need to attend to...” Linus said, grabbing the phone.

Sally looked completely oblivious, and sighed a big crushy sigh.

Linus dialed a number, and spoke into the receiver. “Yes, animal control? There seems to be a stray dog outside. It looks like a dog I recognize... a pest about town known as Rover, AKA Gylldas. He’s just a townie dog, but please come and pick him up at once anyways, won’t you? Thank you so much.”

Within a few minutes, Linus heard a truck outside. The next thing he heard, there was a whooshing sound of a net coming swiftly down, a small yelp, and then silence.

And I am not a dirty coward since I have to leave and won't be able to defend myself either. You were afraid RAB was the bomber. That's why you didn't vote yesterday. You're just as cowardly. At least I'm still willing to vote.

Self preservation >>> picking on player that are asleep...

And yet according to you, the sleepy player would be the bomber and this would be a trick. But let's follow your advice and all self-preserve until the mafia picks us off. Seriously. Would you even vote for someone if they were suspected of being mafia? Or would you just keep voting me because you know I'm a townie and can't hurt you.

If I was mafia, more townie roles would be dead right now. You think I'd keep them alive when they would endanger my mafia? Get a clue.

Miss guiding them so they're useless is the same as they being dead (see last mafia game) without wasting a hit. Also why are you not dead for outing yourself in a "townie alliance"?

And you have no really proof that you have any friends (with or without powers) besides thatguy....

So, you're telling me that every person with a role is being misguided by me? I highly doubt that. We both know that people always doubt what I say and a group of people are going to figure out sooner rather than later if I was misleading them. Just because I did it you as an individual doesn't mean it can happen to a group. Why would I want to stick my neck so far into the lion's throat?

What's your proof that I'm mafia? I lived a day? Big whoop. I lived the whole game in Mario Kat Mafia and I was on your freakin' side. That didn't stop you from nearly throwing away victory by stubbernly voting for me on the last day. Good job there. Heck, I didn't even get hit with an item that game and I took the lead in getting people voted out. Must have been mafia. Oh wait. But I wasn't.

You weren't hit by the mafia yesterday. Is that because you're mafia? By your logic, it must be. Stevey is mafia. I have solved the game. I'll just vote Stevey everyday. Boy, won't I look smart when I'm proved wrong. But go ahead stevey. Lead a vote tomorrow. Let's see how well you do. You know everything about everyone.

You knew not to vote RAB cause he'd be the bomber. You knew not to vote oohhboy because he'd be the bomber. You know thatguy and I are mafia because we had the audacity to live and start a vote against someone. After all, you know it's better to preserve someone than actually vote against anyone. I suppose I killed DAaaMan64 since he voted with me. But I best way for your answer since I'm sure you'll know that too. Take the lead. Let's see who wants to listen.

I am going to Vote Nickmitch because he got away yesterday and we are not certain of his role.
You suck.

I'm not really too sure who I want to vote for yet so I'll join Maxi and Vote Nickmitch

Sorry for voting for you again.  No hard feelings mate.

You still suck.

I think I'll sneak in at the end here and Vote Nickmitch if only because everyone else is making compelling arguments, and I want to hear more.

You're tardy, but you still suck.

I have even better logic, if people don't want to take the time to play the game then why should they be kept around?

Fool's logic. Just because he hasn't played, doesn't mean he won't play.
