New season of Black Mirror is coming soon

6 new episodes, and one looks to be very Star Trek-ish.

new Netflix movie - Horredy by the maker of Tucker and Dale vs Evil

Little Evil
https://www.netflix.com/browse?jbv=80139506&jbp=0&jbr=1

I'm 30 minutes in and this **** is pretty damn funny.

New step father (Adam Scott) needs to bond with his new step-son, who he believes to be the literal anti-christ.
His new wife (Evangeline Lilly) of course sees no fault in her son, expect new husband to step it up and be that positive male role model that her son needs.

For a minute I thought it was an actual VHS cassette for promotional purposes. Now I want a Stranger Things VHS set.

If anyone is looking for a good movie to watch tonight, Netflix has The Babadook currently.  Could do worse for spooky movies.

Netflix is reviving She-Ra for 2018 as part of a deal with Dreamworks to brink 5 new toons to Netflix
https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/12/12/she-ra-returns-as-dreamworks-announces-six-new-netflix-toons/#3aba163b1014

She-Ra, Trolls, Boss Baby, Captain Underpants and Harvey Street Kids are the new editions to Netflix.

I can only imagine that if She-Ra is a hit, He-Man can't be that long to follow.

Anyone interested in checking out the new Will Smith film, Bright? Looks intriguing. Fantasy in the modern world can be a fun experience when done right.

Doesn't look like it'll be that great to me.  But I still wanna see it.  I think the premise is interesting, but I've been burned by that before.

Feels like it will be a grittier Grimm where all the fairy tail characters live openly (all but the last season are on Amazon Prime right now).

Sadly it is getting ripped apart by reviewers, but I'll watch it anyways because of Smith and the interesting premise. Apparently Netflix has already green-lit a sequel.

I can't shake the feeling this will be a modern era version of that "buddy cop" film from the 90's starring Whoopie Goldberg and a Dinosaur (felt like the style of the old live-action Dinosaurs sit-com). BTW it was Theodore Rex.

I watched Bright. It was a good concept, but the execution was lacking. The story felt rushed, almost every character was unlikeable, and the cinematography and editing were lacking. Dark, Muddy, Quick cut, from multiple angles took me out of the story. I think my favorite character was the Elf Fed.

Everything seems like it needed the whimsy turned up a notch. lighter characters, better lighting, more execution with some stuff cut out to make the whole thing more streamlined.

I'm the opposite. I haven't watched it because I think the concept is silly. Though, who knows maybe 7 years from now I'll be bored and alone and it will sound like a good idea that day.

Watched Bright with my wife last night because we burned ourselves out of Christmas Specials (marathoning all three Timm Allen "The Santa Clause" films will do that to a person...)

We actually loved it. I think hearing it was mediocre lowered my expectations and allowed me to really enjoy it. If I had gone into it just thinking it was a new Will Smith film I might have expected more.

I could see it getting a bit of a cult following. I liked how while the whole "fantasy racism" was very present yet it didn't feel too preachy. It was more "this is how things are and here are how some characters deal with it". My wife felt it was like a fantasy version of Zootopia with the whole "new diversity hire" angle. Her only complaint was one or two overly CGI scenes and bare boobs in a club scene. I didn't mind the boobs  :cool;

It is already getting a sequel, so I'm hopeful they can build upon the first and maybe get rid of some of the cheese.

Who says "No" to this!?

Directed by the guy who was originally supposed to do The Flash movie for WB/DC*, produced by the current directors of Civil War, IW and A4, and starring the Immortal himself.

Netflix putting that $8Billion production budget to work!!.

*preciously directed movies such as Dope and The Wood

Netflix ALL-IN on Anime Originals.

5 "new" series announced
https://deadline.com/2018/11/netflix-anime-pacific-rim-altered-carbon-cagaster-of-an-insect-cage-yasuke-trese-1202498191/

Quote
  • Pacific Rim, which expands the world of the two live-action movies of the same name, returns to the epic battle of Kaiju and Jaegers. The original anime series follows two siblings — an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister — who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents. Co-showrunners are Craig Kyle (Thor:Ragnarok) and Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution). The series comes from Legendary Entertainment (Kong: Skull Island; Pokemon: Detective Pikachu)
  • Set in the same universe as the Netflix-live-action sci-fi series — which is currently in production — Altered Carbon will explore new elements of the story mythology. The series comes from the animation studio, Anima and will be written by Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) and Tsukasa Kondo.
  • From the animation studio Gonzo (Hellsing, Afro Samurai), Cagaster of an Insect Cage is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious disease “Cagaster” turns people into giant murderous insects, this manga-based series follows the struggle of a young couple to stay alive. Koichi Chigira (Last Exile, Full Metal Panic!) directs.
  • Set in a war-torn Japan of mechs and magic, Yasuke follows a retired ronin who must take up his sword when he is charged with the task of transporting a mysterious child who dark forces want to eliminate. The series from the animation studio MAPPA will feature the voice of Sorry to Bother You star Lakeith Stanfield as the titular protagonist, which is based on the historical samurai of African origin who fought with Oda Nobunaga. Creator/Director/Executive Producer is LeSean Thomas(The Boondocks, Cannon Busters) while the Grammy-nominated Flying Lotus will compose the music and serve as an Executive Producer.
  • Trese is set in a Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings. This anime series is based on the Philippine graphic novel by the same name, created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldissimo. Jay Oliva (Wonder Woman, The Legend of Korra) will serve as Executive Producer. Producers are Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson at BASE Entertainment, a studio based in Jakarta and Singapore.

Netflix has renewed The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for seasons 3 & 4
https://nerdist.com/chilling-adventures-of-sabrina-renewed-seasons-3-4/
Quote
Good news for any and all who were enchanted by Netflix’s macabre Halloween ’18 release, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: the show will be around for years to come. With a second season still looming over the horizon, prepped for release on the streaming platform in April of 2019, Sabrina has nonetheless officially put a third and fourth season into motion.

Variety reports that Netflix has ordered 16 more episodes of the program to be distributed among the two seasons, which will begin production in ’19 and presumably reach the viewing public in 2020 and 2021. In the meantime, we’ve got Sabrina‘s holiday special, which only just hit the ‘net on December 14, to fill the Greendale void.

and don't forget that if you've already checked out Season1, there is also a Holiday Special episode out on Netflix now
