Not a surprise! Shantae sucks too. Overrated!

From the makers of Ping Pals, Bakugan!

WayForward are truly a broken clock, only right twice. Aliens: Infestation and Mummy Demastered.

When I click on the screenshots in the article, they are Paper Mario: Origami King when they go full size.

Good. At launch, Golf Story had a bug that would shrink you inside a club house and soft lock your game.

Sports Story needs more time in the oven to prevent this situation.

Click article. Read a few paragraphs. Read title again.

Think to myself, "this article is kinda unhinged."

Reads byline - James Jones.

Oh, that makes sense.

Holy s#@*. First he complains about the controls of Baldur's Gate instead of reviewing the quality of the port, then he says he wishes they skipped Final Fantasy 7 remake and went right onto an UNANNOUNCED Final Fantasy 16.

David Lloyd is full of bad takes. I'm revoking your wand, sir. You're no longer a mage.

So basically go with Divinity Original Sin 2 for CRPGs on Switch? Judging by the 9.5 vs the 4.5?

John Rairdin is asking the difficult questions. We are bored of driving on water.
Can we drive on fire?
Can we drive on acid?
Can we drive on poison?
Can we drive on lightning?

Nintendo Switch owners demand a near-future rally racing video game that lets them drive on ALL weapon elements of your standard Pokemon/Castlevania. It's 2019 and players demand MORE.

TalkBack / Re: Why I Love Yoshi's Story - Game Design Rant
« on: March 19, 2019, 01:38:23 PM »
John, you liked the game because you were 6.

I was 12 and very excited to purchase this game after playing Yoshi's Island at a friend's house years earlier. I felt cheated by how short and easy the game was.

$60 is a lot of money, especially in 1998, especially when you're 12. The gaming press had nothing to do with this game's reception - it's just a thin title.

My wife was enjoying my copy of Yoshi's Wooly World for 3DS last month and I fired up Yoshi's Story on my Everdrive 64 to show her where the art style started. She wasn't interested and still think it's a bad game.

Also, I don't like the Yoshi sounds originated in Yoshi's Story that they still use 20 years later. I prefer the Super Mario World, Mario Kart 64, Yoshi's Island Yoshi sound effects from before he was tainted by Yoshi's Story.

And how annoying is "Yoshi's Happy Song"? What is he saying? "Eat apple"? "Be happo"?

I'm sorry, this game fails on all counts. Thanks for raising this opportunity to discuss the game John. I'm sorry I can't agree with your views.

I think releasing the week of the Summer Steam sale was a huge mistake.

Buy on Switch for $15, or PC for $7.50?

I wanted a reason to use my Switch, but now that I know it's available $7.50 I probably won't buy it at all.

Nintendo Gaming / Picross 3D 2
« on: September 30, 2015, 11:39:57 AM »
I learned about Picross 3D from RFN a long time ago. I would consider myself a pro, having beat the game twice, including filling the space reserved for download puzzles.

Picross 3D 2 has variable difficulty. "Sweet," "Mild," and "Bitter." I bumped it up to bitter to get max points and the difficulty is hard. Dealing with with 2 colors in one row is really challenging if there is a square or circle on that row. I don't yet know if the new hint button deducts points.

The challenge is real.

Podcast Discussion / Re: RFN RetroActive (Jr.) #33: Blaster Master
« on: August 05, 2015, 10:13:11 PM »
I just played Blaster Master with a friend over the weekend to contribute to RetroActive, my favorite feature on Nintendo World Report.

I had a used copy as a child from vacuum cleaner repair shop. For some reason they sold random electronics as well, including NES carts. I loved it because the gameplay was so varied, the tank portion, jumping out of the tank in the overworld, and the top-down dungeons. It was always very hard and I never could pass the 3rd stage because I never placed proper emphasis on the GUN powerups. I once saw my adult neighbor get the walk climbing unit, but never beat the game.

When my friend and I played it this week, we started playing normally, only intending to use save states but we quickly decided to turn on infinite hover and sub-weapons. Eventually, we just busted out the full walkthrough maps. http://www.auriplane.net/blastermaster/01-level1-a.png

I love this game still, despite the fact it doesn't really respect the players time. My friend's first console was the SNES, so he doesn't really see what all the fuss is about. It really is one of the best games on the NES, easily top 25. 10/10 ambition, 7.5/10 for execution. Limited continues is just cruel.

I'm bought Blaster Master: Enemy Below in high school, but never finished it. Now that it's on 3DS I'm planning to go back and finish it.

If you liked this game, you'd love Blaster Master: Overdrive for the Wii. It fixes a lot of problems (but not all). I DID beat that one, and it was really good.

1 penny or 10 cents for I've Got to Run? I'd be crazy NOT to buy it.

Don't read the reddit thread about it! Phew!

Yeah, I did a search on these forums and that link popped up (It was actually open in another tab). I'm just way more comfortable on Reddit and NWR, I've never actually gone to neogaf, but I guess I'll have to read through that thread.

Anyone tried this game yet?

I finished the tutorials, but am having some difficulty getting deeper into it. I've checked out some Japanese strategy wikis, but was hoping to discuss with other people.

Yeah............................................................those old voice samples from Yoshi's Story are awesome. Everyone loves them and they aren't the slightest bit annoying.

Yoshi's Touch & Go on Wii U. FINALLY!!!!!!

But seriously, I was so mad when I bought that TECH DEMO for $30 after launch. I'll never fully forgive Nintendo for that.

Thank you for calling out the elephant in the room, Donkey Kong Returns Tropical Freeze. You guys have been hyping Retro's new game and making me excited because it was a mystery for so long and now that it's announced a DKCR sequel is a big letdown. I'm not a Wii U owner, and I may not be for a long long time. I got a Wii on launch day and was bit in the ass. I only not played Mario Galaxy 2, Blaster Master: Overdrive, and Xenogears (on RFN recommendation). The only game remotely interesting corn Wii U is the new Monolithsoft title.

Can we also talk about the lack of 3DS support? I know AC:NL came out along with E3 but I feel like the release schedule for 3DS is looking kinda dry. I've said it before, I'll say it again -- Where's my Advance Wars title? Help me Intelligent Systems! You're my only hope!

I'm going solo to Japan on April 2nd for 14 days. Tokyo for 4 days, Kyoto for 4 days, and then back to Tokyo til I leave the 16th.

Does the Famicast Crew have any travel tips or activity ideas? I imagine Akihabara is a must.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can strongly advise against Tale of Two Towns. It de-emphasizes the farming heavily imo, while ratcheting up story and cooking.

I don't know why they are doing stuff like that. Do they even know what the fanbase wants? Maybe it's just me, but I NEVER get the cooking recipes. I just want to farm, upgrade my house, and get married.

Are any of the DS/3DS Harvest Moons worth playing?

I liked and owned HM, HM64, HM GBC, and HM: Friends of Mineral Town.

I bought A Wonderful Life and hated it.

I stopped playing Harvest Moon because from screenshots they began looking more and more like A Wonderful Life (A Terrible Game, as I began to call it.)

The DS ones always scare me off because touch mini-games are so corny and ruin the experience. Are any of them worth it, or should I stick with Friends of Mineral Town? (My Friends of Mineral Town cart has wiped itself before, soooo much time lost)

General Gaming / PETA Games Using Nintendo Assets?
« on: October 08, 2012, 05:12:10 PM »
Has anyone else seen the flash games up on the PETA website?

There is Pokemon: Black and Blue, Mario Kills Tanooki, Super Tofu Boy, New Super Chick Sisters, and Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals.

I wish I were joking, but it's all here - http://www.peta.org/interactive/games/default.aspx

I hope Nintendo takes some legal action. This is outrageous.
