TalkBack / Nintendo's Earnings Forecasts
« on: April 07, 2003, 08:29:21 PM »
Did they pan out? Well, good news and bad news.

Here's what the Associated Press had to say:

TOKYO - Japanese game manufacturer Nintendo Co. lowered its earnings forecast for the recently ended fiscal year on Monday, citing slower-than-expected sales of its GameCube console.

The Kyoto-based maker of the Super Mario and Pokemon video games expects to report earnings of 66 billion yen ($547 million) compared with its earlier forecast of 80 billion yen ($663 million) in profits. It said GameCube sales totaled 5.6 million machines and failed to reach the target of 10 million for the year ended March 31, said company spokesman Yasuhiro Minagawa.

Nintendo also cut its sales projection for the past fiscal year to 500 billion yen ($4 billion) from 600 billion yen ($5 billion).

Profits for the fiscal year ended March 2002 totaled 106 billion yen ($878 million) on sales of 555 billion yen ($4.6 billion).

Here's a little more: GBA sales were actually higher than expected, with 15.7 million units, according to CNET.

That new Samus figure I keep seeing at Software Etc is rad.

While we're at it, I'd like to put up a huge bounty on an Eriko Christy (Illbleed) action figure. It's impossible to find ARHGALSHK;/SJ.

General Gaming / Dreamcast games
« on: March 01, 2003, 05:52:43 PM »
Dreamcast is still god of fighting games, ehehehe

Here's a happy checklist: Marvel vs Capcom 2, Capcom vs SNK 2 (import), Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Project Justice (HELL YES), Power Stone 2, King of Fighters '98 (and a couple others, if I remember; they changed the name to KOF '99 Dream Match or something for DC), Last Blade 2, Garou/Fatal Fury MOTW, Soul Calibur, Guilty Gear X (import).

Also, DDR 2nd Mix and Club Mix (both imports) are kickin' rad.

General Gaming / Capcom cancels All Stars
« on: March 01, 2003, 05:42:54 PM »
Notice every site reporting this is sourcing the same Japanese mag who is drawing the conclusion from Capcom's interest in getting out of the arcade market. The funniest thing ever is that SRK reported that Capcom took down their CFAS page, when it's still RIGHT GODDAMN HERE:

http://www.capcom.co.jp/cfas/top.html

Down at the bottom it says it's coming next Spring, herk herk.

What ah'm sayin' here is that this reeks of the "LOL CVS3 PREORDER AT GAMESTOP LOL" story that everyone (except PGC ) got suckered into. Don't believe a word until Capcom says something.

DDR Max (USA) is great, and Konamix for PSX is pretty good, too (30 bux or less for 52 songs). The original USA DDR doesn't have many songs at all, so don't pay too much for it. And then there's, er, Disney mix...

If you want to get into any import shenanigans, I'm pretty sure all of those are very good.

That's a fine deal indeed, but I can't stand RedOctance pads, they're like standing on giant squishy marshmallows - still, they're better than regular soft pads.

http://www.beat-gear.com/ <- These guys have a nifty metal pad, but it's $350 I think. Otherwise, you're pretty much outta luck unless you build one.
