TalkBack / Re: My Week and a Half with the 3DS

Great, I would love to donate my skills.   Aside from that, See if Neal can do a little experiment with the 3ds.

The 3ds has (or will have) the ability to take snapshots and video in 3d.  Well, what happens when you try and record a 3d image or video of one 3ds using another 3ds?  Does it create a kind of mirror effect like with a video camera going on to an infinite image?
just fun little experiments.

I know, I agree too on the gamers being able to present. (the first comment was just to get people riled up a bit to think) In fact, they can be the most creative people out there.  . I have seen plenty of gamers that can hold a presence, and even in a taking it out of a box video,  there can be a stronger personality.  He has a good face and voice but there just wasn't any energy coming from him.  I say we hop him up[ on two pots of coffee next time! and I do know this is an unpaid site so that's why I offered any help if you want it in the future.

I just love the site so much, I just want it to be all that it can be.  ya know?

Ahh, you missed the part of having a helper, the helper would be the break in the static background while he can talk all he wants!  he can still smile and laugh too!

->modify

What I am suggesting, is simply a suggestion and wouldn't impact time on reviews at all.

Modify part 2:

The video of, this is what I have, is no different than a little kids production.   What is needed is personality.

PRESENTATION.    Of all the media outlets in the world, GAMERS are not meant to be on camera, ther is just no PRESENCE.

Step it up with the personality, use a little bit of 3 point lighting and SMILE and LAUGH and have some good times with a fellow human or dog for the sake of the art.   You are not just opening a box and talking about, you have to protect the NWR brand.   Right now, the presentation feels like a little 12 year kid putting a video up on youtube.   I specialize in many forms a production as well and if you ever would like some post production work, hey just ask. I can also always send you some of my favorite wine if that helps out too.

The environment background was okay, although it wouldn't hurt to create a simple set.  Heck, even have some kids or yourself just paint a Nintendo backdrop while you are presenting the material.

Here are a couple things to try out if you have a helper,

While your are presenting, have someone attach a white piece of large construction paper (light blue) in the background and that will be your sky.   Since your are presenting a 3d system and its games, why not then have the person hang characters from fishing line off of the ceiling  in different depths to your camera (is that a phone cam?) to play with the idea of 3d.  Also have them make the background into a classic mario backdrop.  Then, when you are talking about the street fighter game, while you are pointing out the fact about how the camera switches angles to give you the 3d, why not have them hang a Ryu Character near you, a Sakura Character on the actual backdrop and then hang a fireball just coming out of ryu a few inches away going towards sakura.

That type of thing will really make the videos start to pop.

Just a few ideas,
Jim

Nintendo Gaming / Re: E3 2011 Predictions
« on: March 12, 2011, 08:43:08 PM »
Dear Nintendo,

We are friends and we've met from time to time and your systems and games have always brought a smile.   Now that I am older though, I would like some of your franchises to grow with me.  You see, we grew up together in this video game age and now that I have children of my own, would you please make new software and I.P's for the new generations.  It would be a sad moment in history if Nintendo has lost its focus and continued down the course of recycle.

When I was growing up I got to witness just about every character you have ever made and there was a new experience around every corner.  The thing is though is that I have been playing these characters for so long that my kids already know them.  There is nothing NEW and exciting ever coming out.  We have Mario, Kid Icarus and so on, but what we don't have is the feeling of unexplored territory and the excitement of learning, its old hat.

The old is fine and you can recycle that, but I would really appreciate 1 year of nothing but new IP released into the wild.   Mario, Star Fox, Samus, Evil Princess and so on, they have peaked and while they practice their redundancy for safety, they are not providing new experiences for my children and no, running around on a sphere doesnt count.  Sorry, but I know what it takes and while it was just a little different, they are still just platforms that need to be navigated.

So please, flex that imaginary might that you have, and if you release a new system in the coming years, why not treat us with a new face that isnt based all around Pokemon.  Yes, Pokemon gave you the mini-games (which you pretty much only do now) that are incorporated in what looks like real games, but really its just a mini-game interface, but what it has taken from you is sporadic creative thought and tossed you into your own box.  While the box might be hard to get out of, truly Nintendo, you have the industry leaders that make the trends and if you continue to not break out of the box, the rest of the industry will make boxes just like yours and then we will have the same games on all the systems again.

An open letter tossed into the wild.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: best n64 game and why
« on: March 12, 2011, 08:20:17 PM »
Blast Corps is one the best out there,
followed by
Turok Dinoasaur Hunter and Rage Wars

I dont rememeber the name at the moment, but there was a fighting game based on points and it had a fighting cow and it just so happened to be out around the same time as Kung Pow!

Hands down awesomeness = Forsaken 64
Hands Down Quirky non mario adventure title = Legend of the Mystical Ninja <-Freakin rocked
Hands Down best non cart racing game = Wave Race 64 and then Hydro Thunder (4 player action there)
Hands Down Best Arcade Racer = San Fransisco Rush or Rush 2
Hands Down offbeat fighter = War Gods

Mortal Kombats had a good run both with the Trilogy (my favorite version) and MK 4
Street Fighter had a brief appearence in the crossover Capcom Vs Snk 2 pro
pilotwings is a nice slow paced game

p.s.  Beetle Adventure racing was a solid racer, but a little drifty for me.

Rocket Robot on wheels, was a fun game but not memorable.

Really, if you have anyone to play with and you like FPS games, look below

NO order
1)Forsaken 64
2)Perfect Dark
3)Turok Rage Wars

I have a question for anyone playing

On my save file,  I am playing classic 007 mode.  In this mode I have had to pick up armor and health and it uses the old school goldeneye bars.  Once I entered the night club (maybe the stage before) it seemed to switch to the other health mode (is that just for a couple specific stages?) and will it go back?  I looked all over and couldn't find a difficulty switch in the settings..

so anyone else experience that?

For some reason, im down for Call of Duty Black Ops.

TalkBack / Re: Iwata Discusses 3DS Software Prices
« on: October 05, 2010, 01:35:10 PM »
are we forgetting one little thing that Iwata said during e3?

Converting to a 3d game doesnt cost that much at all and most games can easily be displayed in 3d

I know it was something like that, so the software will cost more in the developments most likely from the more detailed art in the games.

Dragons lair, in my complete and honest opinion is the forefather for games like god of war, force unleashed and so on.   To simply dismiss it is not fair.  IN fact, anyone who hasnt already should jump in the series with part II of Dragons Lair, it really is the best of breed.

The Metroid Hunters controls dont hurt so bad if you use the original DS.  The original DS size and form made it easier to support the wrist if your sitting down.  But when the newer DS came out, it become smaller of a form factor and so it makes it harder on your hands.

So its your fault stratos, for not having hands of a 12 year old girl.

first, to be annoying, Yoshi's story.   but, then I saw PD on the end and well, lets just say I think that would be good for some energetic relatively positive game fun!

hmm, left handed playing with this game.    let me do some experiments..

.. after test...
Okay, so if your left handed and have the nature to keep the wiimote in the left when you break apart, yes.. the controls break..  and i though this controller was supposed to eliminate the need for rightys and leftys.   next time nin, just put to ir sensors in (if you even use that again) the bottom too.

so mop, when you play First Person Shooter (cant write fps, it stands for another more greater value) do you hold the nunchuck in the right?   I found, while playing these type of games, I end up crossing my wrist in order to maintain lastability (who really only games in small sessions?) and stability, but after i do this, the pointer is on my left even though its in my right hand.   i wonder what it would be like to just switch..

hmmmm

oh btw,

Metroid other M..  really fun game when its all laid out on the table.  I am enjoying this game, it is fun and while a little unknown at first as far as the metroid game feel is concerned, it grows into its own.   I suggest though, that everyone play the game with headphones.

actually, her hair was green in the original.

I always thought that, in the suit, she was tall, but out of the suit she was smaller.   Other M kind of cemented that thought when you see her die and loose about 5 inches all around.   I always wondered how that armor fit, and at least we now know it actually does spawn out of the blue suit. (is it tethered to her? or was).

The blond part, i could easily see for her character.  yes dammit i admit it.  I like the Samus, and i think her suit has more sex appeal then he actual human body.  While I am near the end i believe (some monster that poops metroids) and was wondering if there are extra endings besides the beat 2 times endings.

Did you know Zelda Oot had multiple endings.

I would like to see a rebellion of sorts on her part.  As of now, shes more a contractor than bounty hunter.   Why not take her character down that path, maybe even perhaps, take her down the path of evolution of sorts, become a new mb  that can produce metroids.  She could think shes doing the right decisions in her story arc, but the parasitic side of her now dictates her subconscious, building her into the new "evil" that ultimately she has to purge somehow.  Causing her to seek out new "upgrades" through life forms in order to gain the power needed to shed.  each time she upgrades though, it tips a consequence meter that would influence "variables" in her outcomes, it would be a choice that would have to be made and in the end, only she can save herself from this path.

And then, as a counter prequel on the current hand held, release Samus Origins, which would be a game that has training with the chozo and why she is there.  So we could have two side by side games that both follow the same idea of new birth.

That would be fun.

all of the consoles and handhelds nintendo has maid are pretty solid.  The worst of course was the original nes, but the DS(s) have fallen into mop buckets, toilets and they are still kicking.  Then, the wii, while I am a little miffed about the black dots of death issue, before my system died, it hit the ground a few times (hard rock ground, 2 foot fall) and my family took it to hell and back before it died.

But, now I have two sets of cords and moving the wii, not so bad anymore.

TalkBack / Re: No MegaMan Universe WiiWare Release Due to Size Restrictions
« on: September 08, 2010, 12:23:20 PM »
Actually, Capcom has hit restriction issues with Microsoft and its was pulling teeth to get what they needed done.

edit::  actually, rip out the rendered grfx, replace with 8 bit.. were good to go and it would most likely be more fun.  See, when something uses 3d to kind of make a 2.5d game, well they always end up feeling like chesse.  Aside from killer instinct, and maybe one or two more, they usually stink. for me.

edit:: and its okay nintendo, we like to download things to SD cards.  they work fine!  and we all know the hd support is their, so why not finally embrace it for us.  At least if you did, you could assign some security code to the games if it makes you feel better.
