A new model of New 3DS has appeared on the North American Amazon pages that will take advantage of SNES Classic mania.

The Super Nintendo-themed New 3DSXL model has appeared on both Amazon's main page as well as the Canadian website. Modelled after the North American version of the Super Nintendo, the unit is retailing for US$199.99 or C$239.99 with a promised release date of November 27 (Cyber Monday). Super Mario Kart's 3DS Virtual Console release is pre-installed on the system.

So far, no other retailer has listed this model for sale.

Heard about this morning and saw it on the Amazon US site but couldn't find it on the Canadian site. Finally did by searching through the 3DS hardware. I don't know what Canada describes it as a Super NES. Either say Super Nintendo or SNES. Those are the terms I always hear the system referred to. Anyways, if anyone else is having trouble finding it on the Canadian site then here's the link.

I've been thinking about getting a new 3DS system already and was tempted by the Samus edition although I was contemplating getting one of the smaller NEW 3DS systems for the removable faceplates and the different visual output the smaller screen gives. I got my NEW 3DS XL when that launched and it's served me well enough that I recently had to replace the battery in it. But the bottom cover's veneer is peeling / rubbing away on both front corners one side more significantly than the other and the feeling of the peeled edge is bothering me as I play with it. I'll have to see if Nintendo sells new bottom covers so that I can replace it. It's another reason why removable faceplates for the smaller NEW 3DS also interested me. With this Super Nintendo edition, Nintendo has well played on my SNES nostalgia with the recent SNES mini so I decided to make this my new NEW 3DS system.

Glad I put off buying a New 3DS for so long. This will go nicely with my NES GBA SP.

Yeah, IN AUSTRALIA!

But, IN AMERICA, it's only just become available because our SNES design is different from yours. Australia could use the same faceplate as Japan and Europe thus getting it sooner.
