NWR Forums Discord / Nintendo developed what?
« on: December 01, 2008, 10:39:34 PM »
So I was surfing imdb and stumble upon this:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093177/trivia

"Nintendo developed a video game based on the film. It was planned as one of the first to feature the capacity to save a player's game and let the player return later to that point in the game. However, it was discovered that the Nintendo console could not correctly interpret the saved game codes, so production was scrapped."

So I guess is just wrong, but I just wanted to be sure, is this true? what the hell are they talking about anyway? wouldn't a Nintendo developed, Hellraiser game be simply awesome?

Nintendo Gaming / Brawl's price
« on: January 30, 2008, 01:46:21 AM »
I don't like making new threads but no way I'm going to be spoiled, so to be safe I'll ask here. has any price been confirmed? I've seen $60 in some places and with all they are including in the game I would think it's fair but retailers here in my country had the nasty habit of doubling the price which will hurt my poor wallet.

NWR Forums Discord / The lefty rant
« on: September 06, 2007, 06:17:12 PM »
Because I finally got the damn console and I'm a little drunk, I decided to just rant about lefty controls since no one cares, and no one will read this anyway.

Wii Sports:

Not only the lamest packed-in game ever  (A single Mario party game offers more, in fact it should have been the pack-in), it simply does not offer any lefty option, AT ALL. It's even insulting enough to ask you to use the remote in the dominant hand for the boxing game, yet it still maps the right punch to the remote, and never offers you the option to swith, does it matter? maybe not, I hate sports in general, so I have no idea if leftie golfers and leftie baseball players place themselves in the opposite position, but this crap just tells you Nintendo's position about lefties.

rating: -8/10

Update: Somehow now the game offers the option, right after choosing the mii, which is odd because it never happened before I swear so,

Rating: 0/10

Super Paper Mario:
Cool game, yet the remote is meant to be pointing at the screen, here we can see that Nintendo doesn't care about lefties in anyway whasoever. In the process of porting the game  from its original GC incarnation to its bastardized wee version, they decided to cram-in the pointing functionality with some lame ID function, so righties just flip the remote, easy right? well no, you have to do it with your right hand if you want to use the strap, suddenly trying to identify something doesn't seem so fast and easy, heh? we can't use the stupid strap at all! the TV and nearby innocent bypassers are at the mercy of our clumsiness, and we tend to be clumsy, this is just unacceptable.

ok only idiots would left the remote to fly over a room in a game like paper mario, yet the strap should be longer just to please my own leftie-zealot self  rating: -3/10

Now just you wait until I get my hands on MP3 tomorrow, I will shread the game into little pieces.

Nintendo Gaming / The suggestions thread!
« on: April 30, 2007, 06:35:13 PM »
I'm surprised theres not a thread about this.

I'm giving in, I might end up buying Metroid Prime Hunters against my inner metroid fanboy self that screams to me to not buy spinoffs but... its metroid! then again, I haven't followed new releases closely, so I don't know of new games that I might like, I also find Hotel Dusk interesting, and I love those point and click adventures games, or even maybe Castlevania... argh, I don't know what to get

In summary, should I get Hunters, Hotel Dusk, one of the Castlevania games ( I don't know which one) or maybe some new game I haven't heard about? Any opinion is very welcomed.

Many thanks in advance

"GameCube games are played with GameCube pads. Can they be played with the Classic controller too, for those who don't actually have any GC pads?

Nintendo: Nintendo GameCube games can only be played using Nintendo GameCube controllers. The Classic Controller will not work on these games. "

urgh... for us the people who hated the classic controller, we just assume that it ended up like a bad rip off of the bad rip off that the playstation controller was in order to be compatible with GC games, but now we are being revealed that is not such the case. So I want to know why the hell Nintendo didn't just use a N64 controller as the classic controller when its obvious it works for every single console in the VC perfectly. Whats the point in two analogs sticks and clickable shoulder pads if GC games are out of the question? ARGH, Nintendo pisses me off so much sometimes.
/rant

so what do you think?, I really hope some third party gets a clue and releases a N64 pad because is the most obvious choice for a VC game, and that Nintendo gets ZERO sales of its classic controller for being so damn short-sighted.

Nintendo Gaming / Wii's hardware
« on: May 15, 2006, 05:39:24 AM »
I didnt see a thread about it, so Im making one related to the hardware, forgive me if theres already another one, I couldnt find it.

First I wanted to point out the Elebits dev talked about a physics unit of some sort and that that helped them with the development of the title, he probably let that slip when he shouldnt, but its a very interesting thing indeed.

I also have curiosity regarding the optical media, is it confirmed that its DVD? any info regarding the load times? I remember that one of the advantages of GC's small storage media was faster load times, I dont know if the tecnology is ready to give us better load times with full size DVDs now.

Nintendo Gaming / Left handed!
« on: September 25, 2004, 12:48:59 PM »
Yes! Im left handed ^_^, and so the use of the stylus is a radical factor for me. Reading through the great ideas some of you have about the use of the touchscreen I found one about drawing the element in front of Kirby in a sidescroller game, I thought "cool" and then I pictured myself trying to do it... O_o omg I cant! sidescrollers using the touchscreen would suck for me, since my hand will be covering the character, unless the game developer decides to make it scroll from right to left... that would be kind of unconfortable too O_o! I cant believe I didnt thought about the left handed issue until now!

has Nintendo said anything about how much left-handed compatible the DS will be? I think that having the option of switching the Dpad and the four buttons would be the best solution, but thats up to the developer... or could Nintendo include a way to change it manually for every single game? they should! Im starting to think I wont be able to enjoy the DS T_T

P.S. sorry for the bad english
