TalkBack / RE: Future of Ace Attorney Series Depends on Sales
« on: August 02, 2007, 06:50:09 PM »
I was going to buy the game and spread it word of mouth like I have for the past two anyway.  It's a GREAT series.  I'm sure it will sell fine.  I don't see this as big news either.  Still, I guess NWR is doing their part by making sure we all go out and get it.  Which is fine by me!

Yeah, I read the game would be coming in a brief mention in Game Informer months back, but no word or any indication since.  I will also definitely import this one if we don't hear any news before it hits Europe!

Hell yes.  I knew it was only a matter of time for these games to come over.  Treasure online fighter = GET BONUS!

Someone really ought to fix the "BEACH" headline, even though it's easy to figure out what's being talked about.

I loved the Rygar for PS2 as well.  I'm glad the series is making a comeback to a Nintendo platform.  Rygar is just effin cool.

Actually, it's nice to see so much support from Tecmo overall.  I wouldn't be surprised if we see some fighter using the Wii remote or a Ninja Gaiden for Wii.  Now all we (read: I) need is a Deception game where you could trigger traps with the wii remote.  That would be unbelievably amazing.

Great catching this Dan!  I'm dubious as to the quality of the game myself, though it is still a very exciting announcement.  I am hoping it is fun, most Olympic console games are not.

OMG!  Nice ROWSDOWER avatar MJRx9000!  Good old Troy and Zap!

Anyway, I just want to say "oh, cry" for Tomy.  It's crazy that they're blaming Nintendo specifically, though I think it's not only promotion but the fact that DS fricking owns Japan and the Wii is off to an excellent start there as well.

Yeah, this weeks' releases are all winners.  I am getting behind with good VC games coming out more and more frequently.  Still I'd rather have it this way then have crappy releases week after week.  I'm going to HAVE to pick up another card to get DKC at least, along with the other two big SNES releases (LttP & SMW).  If this keeps up, it will be damn near impossible to keep up with all the good stuff; second job needed indeed.

Yeah, Nintendo's website used to be a real drag; not a lot of stuff and occasional inaccurate info  Now it is super informative and even fun to visit, register your products and learn more about what's going on.  It's really encouraging to hear the traffic is increasing as it's another sign of Nintendo's great success with Wii & DS.

TalkBack / RE:Virtual Console May Bring JPN Games to U.S.
« on: February 16, 2007, 12:56:59 AM »
I heard Harrison make a similar comment quite awhile ago, so I’d imagine it’s not only a possibility; I’d guess translations could very well be underway now.  Sin & Punishment is the obvious first choice because of the heavy amount of English already in it (just menus and the end are the big things that need translating) but it’s exciting to hear more talk of this.  Fire Emblem games could also be a big one—I actually thought of them before thinking of S&P for some odd reason.  It’d be cool to see Mother, or even things for 64DD like Doshin the Giant or the track editor for F-Zero X, yet the latter two I suppose are very remote possibilities.

I’m a Sin & Punishment freak.  I think it’s easily one of the greatest N64 games and a masterpiece of gaming IMO. It’s really tragic it was never released here.  Back in the PGC days, NOA was hinting it could be released (both on the record and off) and there was even mentions in Nintendo Power and a U.S. Sin & Punishment website that never went live.  Then there’s also the fact it showed up on that survey for VC games that was circulating some time back.  It’s only a matter of time, though part of me still thinks it’s too good to be true.

For those who have never played, it’s amazing, albeit short.  Still, with all the difficulty levels (with significant changes in things like enemies & boss battles) and high speed modes, it’s still something I come back to play a lot.  Every level is completely different and nuttier than the last and the storyline is very much like much anime where you don’t understand the parts until you get the whole picture.

For a good overview of S&P check out this thread on Neogaf

TalkBack / RE: Wii Play Now Available in North America
« on: February 14, 2007, 10:17:25 PM »
Yeah, this is totally sold out.  I hunted stores up and down yesterday and everywhere I looked it was GONE.  Even websites like Ebgames.com and Bestbuy.com are backordered.  I'll have to eBay it or something.  I know it's not the best game, but I'd love to have the 4th remote and the Duck Hunt style game.  Reading this release makes me want it even more.  Some of these games sound more than alright.

50/50 for Chrono Trigger on VC?!?  WTF, I thought Nintendo Power was saying a lonnnnnnnng time ago that it was a go.  Of course, I agree that if it doesn't hit VC it will come to GBA (at least it better!).  Maybe I'm weird as I'd much rather see it on VC, even though on GBA I could play it anywhere and still play it on the big screen with the GBA Player.  The VC is just so slick.  Either way, it is indeed an instant buy.

TalkBack / RE:December Spells Money for Nintendo
« on: January 12, 2007, 04:30:21 AM »
HOT DAMN NINTENDO! The best holiday sales for video games EVAR?!?  Sweeeeet.

Honestly though, I'm not too surprised.  Ever since I've gotten my Wii at launch, I've converted a few of my friends who were unsure about the system or knew they wanted it eventually to go out and start hunting for it ASAP.  So far, none of them have been successful.  I also knew that DSLs were being snapped up the second they hit the shelves.  So no doubt that Nintendo is raking in the dough, even though they apparently didn't get as many systems out as they were planning to (at least from what we know so far...)

The momentum behind Wii will continue unabated through the early weeks of 2007, with retail debuts of WarioWare™: Smooth Moves, Wii Play™ and Mario Party® 8 from Nintendo; a host of third-party releases; and a steady stream of classic games made available via download with the Wii Shop Channel.

Sounds real good to me.  Was going to get Wario when it dropped next week, but since I've only scratched the surface on zelda and have DS games I got for Xmas I haven't even opened yet, I'll hold off.  I'm definitely getting Wii Play for the extra controller and new Duck Hunt, Mario Party 8 will certainly be great and I loves me some VC (honestly prolly played more old games than new--yeah, I know I'm crazy).   Between the new releases and upcoming VC stuff, I would think there's not going to be any "game drought" any time soon.

Don't bother. I went to one store and they had one last Wii available. He said since they would get so few shipments (about three at a time) he would tell anyone who called to ask for availability that there were none and sell only to people who walked in.

That's so weak.  Hopefully, things will definitely pick up on the production side of things and more people will be able to score a system.  They should open another production facility or something...

Obviously this should be a good indication of what North America is in store for too & it's definitely good to know that bigger games like OoT and SMW are coming sooner than later.  I only wish New Adventure Island would come out here.

Man, the DSL was definitely one of the hottest holiday gifts.  I heard more than a couple kids clammoring for one in public.  My sister got two, one for my niece and one for my nephew.  She told me she looked and called everywhere trying to find them and every place was sold out and apparently the salespeople were exasporated from all the demand.  Then one day she went into Best Buy for something else and they had just gotten in a surprise shipment.  And it's even crazier in Japan...  I'm sure Nintendo's holidays were very happy.

Thanks!  I was hoping there were more colors, as I just made a Dr. Venture Mii and wanted to give him pink pants to give him his "onesy" but at least I know now how the different colors come about.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to change the Miis' pants color.  I'd imagine it is, as I've seen a couple Miis with different pants colors, I just have no idea how to do it, other than to make the Mii a "favorite," though this always changed the pants from black to red.  If anyone knows how to choose other colors, please share here.

Thanks for the great special guys!

« on: December 15, 2006, 03:27:41 PM »
About time this came out!  I have been waiting since launch and I am loving it.  Yeah, no Classic Controller support is a letdown but there are many controller options and the ones I've used work pretty well.  Played through the first one this morning with my girlfriend, who's never even heard of the series.  We had a blast and the game is much more fun and has much more character than I remember.  Great for a 10 year old game--and there are 6 more waiting for us.  Plus it's $40.  Buy it and support SNK love on Nintendo Wii!  Just imagine other great Neo Geo compilations they could make!

Yup, Best Buy has been carrying Jump Super Stars for awhile.  Interesting indeed!  I hope this trend continues, especially after the closing of Lik-Sang.  I've been to game stores that have imports but they're usually mom & pop type operations.

It's interesting they're backing down on the reported number of Wiis available.  Weirdsville.  I hadn't heard anything about the strap issue till last weekend, so that may be one reason.

There's no denying that the Wii is hot this holiday.  Everyone I've shown it to has become a convert and many of them now want a system of their own.  Unfortunately, I've heard numerous times that people aren't able to find one, no matter where they go or how hard they try.

At least people aren't getting killed over Wiis

Well, well, well.  Good to know.

Hopefully we'll have Gunstar by next week.  And Sin & Punishment better show up sometime soon too!

This is getting ridiculous.  I know we'll get many of these games *eventually* but for the floodgates to be opened so rapidly for the Japanese VC is kinda insulting.  Maybe Nintendo doesn't want the old games competing with new Wii offerings?  Lord knows I've been playing Super Star Soldier more than any Wii game.

Yeah, what bothers me is that I heard that in an interview about it, Reggie was saying he didn't think all of the games Japan is getting are applicable to Western markets.  WTF guy?  I'd be uber ticked if most of those games don't come out here eventually.  Sure, there are probably a couple that were Japan-only games, but the majority on that list are not.

Hey, at least we're getting it in North America at all.  Hopefully it'll come with a Wiimote here too.  It may be wise to pre-order it just in case.  I can't find any extra Wiimotes ANYwhere.  I've heard Nintendo was only able to try to get one extra remote per system but even came up short there.  So maybe that's why N.A. gets a Wii Play delay.
