Orphan. It was good, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Some pretty brutal kills but nothing too gory. Could've been scarier but the creepy factor was there.

Going by the description, The Orphan is nothing like The Orphanage.

So the only thing they have in common is that they involve orphans?

Coraline: 7/10

Great animation and visual style. The story was good with some well written characters but not that engaging.

National Lampoon's Animal House: 7.5/10

I'd never seen it before today but since I'm going to college Sunday I figured I had to watch it. I liked it, it was a solid movie but not really something I think I'd want to watch again. It was pretty funny but dragged in parts. I finally get why all the old people praise John Belushi, though, he put in a truly amazing performance.

Serenity:  Better than the series/10

I recently watched through the series (on Hulu!).  It was good.  Not GREAT, as some people think, but good.  I'd watch it if it was on the air, but I'm not upset that it isn't.

Now, I'd really like to see a second movie.  I really liked the movie.  Can't believe what they did though... like, wow.

I agree with this poast. except I didn't watch more than 4 episodes of the series after watching the movie. A second movie would be really nice.

as most of you know I love post apocalyptic dystopian fiction, but i didn't watch the max mad trilogy till today. Tey were awesome. Its kinda strange, some of my ideas for movies spring out of Akira, which itself draws inspiration from Mad Max

Madmax 8/10 - a good movie

Road Warrior 9/10 - a great movie

Thunderdome 9/10 - another great movie, i guess thunderdome is a mixed reaction mvoie, youeither consider it a high point or a low point in the series. I spent the last 25 years of my life having never seen these movie, and it was too long because they were awesome!

I confess that I watched the entire series and while I thought it was a good series it was overrated by my group of friends.

The movie, however, was fantastic. It solved all the loose ties the series left (except for the shepherd's true identity) and had a very surprising and dramatic ending.

EDIT: Actually scratch that. I started to remember some episodes and realized that I really enjoyed the series. I liked Jayne the best. "The man ape thing gone wrong" thing amuses me XD .

My friend, who is a FireFly/Serenity freak (owns three versions of the movie and two versions of the TV series...) has a theory that Book worked for the Alliance in a role similar to the un-named Agent.  Works for me.

Yeah that makes sense. Its likely he repented and became a shepherd by the time the series started.

One of my favorite episodes is the one where they return to a mud town which hails Jayne as a hero, complete with his own folk song, and Simon is eating his guts out!

Bruno

Crass is an understatement. It's more pornographic. It defies my ability to rate it. You are either like me, laughing till you choke on popcorn or too busy throwing up that popcorn in your mouth. There is no middle ground.

That said, I like Borat better. It contains a quiet innocence that Bruno sold to induce emotional seizures.

Speakaing of The Orphanage

The Orphanage is being remade in English

I've been catching up on threads i missed in my slight absence yesterday, and was about to post this same thing when Stogi mentioned The Orphanage but i'm glad i finished reading the thread. I heard about that news not long after i saw The Orphanage in theatres, and i was a bit dissapointed to be honest. I don't think it'll be as good.. i just get the feeling it'll not only be remade in English, but remade for American audiences and full with dumb scares.

GI Joe: 7/10. This film set the record for blowing up 175 cars in production. This shows the whole way through the film. Extreme destruction and boom. Thin plot. And several ex-Lost cast members (with shitty accents!).

If you liked Transformers' assault on your senses, this is for you.

i never got that awkward feeling watching Brueno, maybe because nothing could top the awkwardness i felt watching the hotel scene on Borat with my dad. I watched Brueno with a bunch of friends.

Funny People: 7/10

Good, not great. Very enjoyable film, and a pretty good balance of the comedy with the drama but it did feel a little too long. Really, thats probably my only complaint.

Bonus: Judd Apatows kids are adooorable, and its weird to see how much they've grown since their appearance in Knocked Up. It was especially awesome to hear Adam Sandler make a menstraul joke, cuz i was thinking the same thing lmao... oh and while i'm at it:

[rant]God, I'm sick of being the only person in the theatre to laugh at half the jokes in films. Is everyone else really so slow or dumb? No one laughed at Rza's comment about Michael Richards which i found hilarious, or (i believe it was Seth Rogens) joke about not being able to have two daughters in China.. really, I was the only one who found those funny? On top of that, it pisses me off that people were walking out of the theatre becuase they thought it would be funnier. People that go to movies and don't know what the **** they're getting themselves into drive me nuts. You go see a movie about someone facing a a life threatening illness and expect it to be ALL laughs? Whatever, I'm not the one wasting my money like an idiot.

Taking of Pelham 123: 7/10. Two very good lead actors who bounce well off each other. It helped to keep the story entertaining and tight. I liked it all the same.

Funny People was good, more serious in places than you would expect. I liked that it didn't have an ending that tied everything up in a neat little bow.

The Searchers John Wayne is fantastic as a bitter old racist veteran who searches for his niece for five years. When he finally finds her, he tries to kill her.
