TalkBack / Re: Hidden Gems: Games You Might Have Missed

I'm happy to see Wonderful 101 on there. It just might be my favorite Wii U game (at least until next Friday when Xenoblade is released)

So is the "special edition" really just the normal game with some DLC codes packed in?
Saw an image, and it looked like the game included was just the normal white version of the game...
I'm pretty sure in the direct they said it was all on a single cart. That's why it's appealing to me I use 3 different systems and I don't want to have to limit myself to playing this game on just one of them

Conclusion 2: Not enough Fire Emblem amiibo were made. Period.

AGREED!!! I finally got a Marth a couple weeks ago, but the only time I saw any of the other 3 was the day Robin and Lucina came out. I was forth in line at Best Buy... But they only had 1 of each. How did Nintendo only make enough for 1 of each? Idiotic! I really want Robin awakening was an amazing game plus I want to use him in Codename Steam

For Turbo Charge Donkey Kong; buy the Wii U starterpack
For Hammerslam Bowser; buy either the 3DS or Wii starterpack.
The 3DS and Wii version is racing only i believe.

Hopefully, they'll release a skylander/amiibo that goes underwater. That Mario Submarine from that gameboy game would be cool.
Thanks for the answer unfortunately there's zero chance I'll be willing to buy the game twice. In fact that makes me not want to buy it at all

I haven't followed closely enough because I want interested note this review has peaked my interest. If I want both Donkey Kong and Bowser does that mean I have to buy the game twice or is there another way to get Bowser on my Wii U?

I enjoyed the hell out of both New Super Mario bros games.

2 had the coin thing which did shake things up a bit and U was actually fantastic in level design and difficulty. It gets crap for it’s somewhat boring and simple aesthetics.

If you play Mario Maker and go back to these games you will appreciate more how good Nintendo is at making Mario games. Even the “boring” ones.

It’s hard enough to make a level for one person but to make a level that works for both 1 or 4 people. Yikes!

I agree that the single player is def the highlight of those games.

But I have a 4 year old and the fact that if she gets stuck and all I have to do is move forward to bring her along is huge. Sometimes you guys look at things in a bubble and forget that there are other audience who appreciate what you don’t like in the series.

The New multiplayer is great for me playing with my little girl and me leading the way.
I'm with you on playing multiplayer with my kids. My 3 year old son is actually a decent Mario player so we played super Luigi and Mario 3D world together

Just wanted to come in on the Ne Super Mario Bros 2 vs U Gui talked about. I think the highlights of both games were entirely missed. The highlight of 2 is that Coin Rush mode where you play the level over and over and try to Fandangle the most coins out if it. They added some awesome twists that can really increase your coin total after you learn how to use them. My wife and I went back and forth a ton trying to beat the others high score.
As for NSMB U, there are 2 real highlights first is the DLC. I completely fell in love with Luigi U it was incredible. Second is that challenge mode. I loved trying to work through all those challenges.

I'm hoping for smash or pinball. I never played pinball and haven't gotten into the original smash since Jr high

Funny you mention DKC. As you mentioned SNES DKC on CRT looks good and VC version on HDTV looks meh...I can agree, but if you plug your SNES into your HDTV via the composite cables it came with then DKC literally looks like vomit

Thanks for the N64 stick advice. Maybe I'll give it a try.

No way guys. Playing on an actual N64 is not a good solution because those joysticks on the controllers just wear out and have to be replaced

Speaking of games with RPG elements, I absolutely love the NBA2k series so if he's into basketball games then he should try the my player mode on NBA2k. I own NBA 2k13 on Wii U and it's very well done.

As for Fire Emblem Awakening, it's my favorite 3DS game.

He specifically said it has to:
- Involve Mario
- Be on a Virtual Console

Sorry dude, I just listened to it again if you fast forward to 2:02 on the podcast clock you'll hear James say "can you get it on a virtual console or is it available for a system that you can play right now as in could I play this on a Wii, a Wii U, or a 3DS. If the answer is yes and its not prohibitivly expensive then it's eligible"

Sorry dude Sunshine counts unless they decide that $30 is "prohibitivly expensive"

On another note, as much as I love and could see myself vote for Sunshine, I suggest either NBA Street V3 or Smash Bros 64

Wait, James didn't you say anything with Mario that you can play on Wii, Wii U or 3DS that isn't prohibitively expensive.
You can play sunshine on Wii and its less than $30 on eBay.

I just put my name on the "email me" at Amazon because it sold out. Hopefully I can catch wind of it being listed on Best Buy's site before it sales out too.

What the heck is wrong with Nintendo? Again with this idiotic not making enough of things to allow people that want one too buy. I would have thought that in August they'd leave it completely open to gauge interest. Even if it hit 10 million (yes I understand that's not possible I'm just trying to make a point) I'd think that would still be possible to make that many by Dec 4th at this point isn't that part of the purpose of doing pre orders to gauge interest to help determine how many to produce?

47
Pre-orders aren't up ANYwhere yet. I don't know what Nintendo was talking about.
I snagged a preorder last night on Amazon, but I'm hoping Best Buy makes it available too since I'd like to get 20% off with gamer's club.

I'm with you on the Best Buy thing. Unfortunately, it's still not up there.

Days like this are when it's super nice to be an adult with a professional job. Xenoblade is my all time favorite game. I regret not jumping on and pre-ordering to get that art book (I waited until I tried it out on gamefly and then bought it used for $80) I won't make the same mistake this time. I won't even flinch at $90 I'm getting this special edition I wish it came with a poster too though

This one is the coolest best Mario maker design I've seen. I hope I can find it when I'm allowed to buy the game

That rating for the sequel really makes me wonder as it mentions online interactions.

Is it possible Nintendo is setting up a way to make online Wii games work again?
