Smash 4 may get more U's moving, but 3 million? HAH. Unless the Dynasty Warriors/Zelda hybrid really REALLY impresses, 3 mil is a delusion, not a goal.

And let's not kid ourselves, Bayonetta 2 won't help. The first one struggled to sell on the PS3/360, and it was hyped to hell and back nonstop.

And THIS is what Nintendo expects to fill the F-Zero shaped void in our hearts?

pathetic.

Gen III was the worst since Gen I, and Gen I was only bad because of the myriad of game-breaking glitches.

Gen VI, while not as good as Gen V (the best Gen, imo), is leagues better than Gen III, so perhaps we'll finally be able to enjoy a trek across Hoenn that isn't a pain in the ass.

Of course they won't be showing new hardware at E3...

...they've been showing old hardware for years!

Well whatever they go into next, at least it isn't their worst business venture. Wasn't Nintendo a chain of brothels back in the 60s?

It's your last chance, Nintendo.

New F-Zero.

Whether it's on the 3DS, Wii U, or some years-long DLC bullshit like the new Killer Instinct, i don't care. Just new F-Zero, in whatever form it comes in.

but of course "f zero doesnt sell" so get ready for more fucking mario party

Look on the bright side, guys. When the Wii U continues to tank despite Smash Bros, Iwata will finally be gone and we'll get someone who knows what the **** they're doing in his place.

Bad controls? Unless you have the reflexes of a 6 month old, or you didn't know how to blast turn.

Nintendo didn't abandon the cores, no, but they abandoned the kind of approach that appeals to core developers.

Abandonment via proxy, if you will.

I must also say that there is sick, almost perverse obsession with the Wii U's massive failure.

So many articles, so many discussions as to why it's not selling, so many "look at how shitty these sales are! rofl" pieces that it gets to the point where it just becomes noise.

It's repeated ad nauseum, again and again, and it's just boring now.

but it makes me feel so good

I can't wait for all those new games for Nintendo consoles they'll be showing off, especially now that the Frostbite 4 engine works on Wii U.

What if it actually IS Steam?

Guess we can say goodbye to any possibility of EA's "Unprecedented Partnership" ever happening if that happens

117
I busted out ALL the photoshop for this one guys

Wouldnt it be cool to see the insides of the machines too? Moving the gamepad left or right would let you look behind you, a feature from FZX that needs a comeback. As your machine is damaged more cracks on the windshield appear and spread, gauges and other stuff on your machine's console start going crazy, etc

Whatever things they end up announcing, one of them had better be improved online connection. Seriously, Brawl's online was a slideshow sometimes.

Thank you so very much for getting me excited for Unreal Tournament 4 on the Wii U

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go cry in the shower for a few hours

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Skipping PAX East 2014
« on: March 25, 2014, 08:31:23 PM »
Yes, they did skip E3. Holding a little private show on the same week is like saying I was at the nightclub even though I just stayed home drinking.

Skipping events like these is LAST thing Nintendo needs to be doing. Over and over again we hear Iwata going, "Please just see what wonderful things we have on the Wii U!" and then skipping events with thousands of eyes and going for dinky internet shows that nobody outside the most die-hard Nintendo fans know or care about.

If I was the man in charge of getting a sluggish system to move units, events like PAX and E3 would be my Christmas.

122
Oh please, Ian. A Mario Paintball would show that Nintendo is at least willing to try something new (that isn't a controller gimmick)

I wish I could say this was surprising news

Hello, no E3 show again

124
...  Metroid could be doable though thanks to IGA leaving Konami to make his own studio and the fact he's even stated he'd love to make one as well.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/20/former-castlevania-producer-would-love-to-work-on-metroid

...

This would be fantastic news.  Not going to hold my breath... but a 2D Metroid from Iga?  Sign me up.

As long as it doesn't involve Sakamoto, how bad could it be?

125
I still think there should totally be a Mario Paintball

But of course, Japan doesn't have nearly the same level of interest in FPS that the west does, so Mario Paintball is one notch below Shenmue III on the reality scale
