An informative look at the "Next-Gen" consoles. Compare the strengths and weaknesses of each in the following editorial

The following is an analysis of the next-generation consoles based on information as of 9/00. The analysis looks ahead to Fall 2001, when the last two entrants to the next-generation console war make their debut. This is not meant to predict any winners or determine which system is superior. It should, however, lay out the relative strengths and weaknesses of the systems as well as a description of the their status as of Fall 2001.

Max hyperventilates over his excitement of the GameCube unveiling.

Off to Space World : Gambare Berghammer-San!

I 'm ready to burst. Billy is packed, ready and en route to Japan. Other Planet staffers are digging their heels in, stocking up on the caffeine and getting ready for action. It's Space World week, Planeteers, and I couldn't be more excited! We're finally going to get answers to the burning questions, finally going to get the info we've all been waiting for-finally see what this puppy can do! "This puppy" -what am I saying? I'm talking about the Nintendo Game Cube, Or "N-Cube" as it's already being referred to. This is the ever-changing, much-speculated-upon final name of Nintendo's Project Dolphin console, putting the long-running name game to an end.

Sizing Things UpEditorial

Rick Powers makes a guest-appearence to comment on Spaceworld.

It's been a long time

It's been a long time, and just when it seemed the world couldn't wait any longer he returns. And returns in a BIG way.

Luigi, of course. Who did you think I was referring to?

Surely by now, every Nintendo fan has heard the news of GameCube, the "next-generation" videogame system set to grace US shores in October of next year. And in uncharacteristic fashion, Nintendo bared all for the media showing finished hardware, polished "demos" of what we can expect from GameCube, and even the internals and specs. All they withheld was the price.

"I never would have dreamed I would actually take a trip like this..."

Bring on the Big Sho!

I can't freakin' believe it. Space World 2000 is a couple days away. The whole concept of going to Japan is pretty unbelievable. Back when I was working for the N64HQ I priced out a trip to Japan just for kicks. This was when Zelda was to be shown for the first time. This also was the first time the Shoshinkai would be called “Space World.” I never would have dreamed I would actually take a trip like this.

But on Tuesday morning, I will be on my way to Japan. Not only that but I'll be getting to see the Dolphin/GBA first hand. The best part is, I'll get to share this whole experience with you. I'll spare the Kleenex issues, but it makes this whole site worthwhile. It's kind of amazing that we've been doing this site, and all of this speculation, and a whole lot of dreaming for almost 2 years...and we don't even know the freakin' NAME of this thing.

Billy shows his excitement about the upcoming day.

Thursday, 6:18am Japan: That means Good Morning! My time schedule is a little fried so I couldn't really sleep. Damn Geisha. Heheheh. Kidding!

Well today's the big day folks. Just 9 hours away from the press conference! Hell yeah! Ran into the fine folks from Tendo Box last night and exchanged stories and stuff. They've got some video of the conference center up, along with some interesting pics from Mario Golf that look WAY to good for N64. They came from a Japanese Gaming magazine. It's hard to say what the hell it is, meaning if it's Dolphin or not. But they look damn sweet. That's the last scoop you Tendo Box bastards get. Mwhahahahahahah. :) Damn, I need to find some Mountain Dew quick!
